Title: My Logitech touchpad is now a footpedal!
Post by: Sciurid89 on Thu, 25 July 2013, 13:23:21
I was lucky enough to mention my interest in getting a vertical mouse around a coworker who had one laying around unused. So, I've been rolling with that for a while, and it has relieved my pinky of tingling. yay!

But my thumb started complaining about the frequent counterforce required to oppose the index finger on clicks, esp on click and drag.

I hadn't been using my wireless touchpad for a darn thing... so, I got the inspiration to set it on the floor and click with my foot! This has been brilliant so far.

You are using it purely as a key switch...just tap or double tap. No movement, drag, etc?

Yes, it is a very overpriced keyswitch at this point :-p

Heh. That's actually a pretty good idea. I, too, have given up on the Logitech touchpad. I really wished its Windows drivers were anywhere close to what Apple provides for OSX.

That's what I don't like about vertical mice.  You need to squeeze them pretty hard to get any sort of precise control or click the buttons.  The tendons on the back of my hand started hurting after using one for an hour.

Have you tried a trackball? I mean ones like the Kensington Expert Mouse that you control with your fingers, not your thumb. (Actually, what I truly mean are ones like the old Microsoft Trackball Explorer, or the recently discontinued Logitech Trackman Optical Cordless).

I have not tried a trackball, but it seems to me that none of these allow one to escape the ulnar deviation problem, which most definitely is an issue for me... sideways mounting? But then it would become rather unintuitive to move left/right with...
