Title: WtB black switch springs and cherry stabilizers
Post by: turtle on Tue, 30 July 2013, 16:42:22
Hello all! I am looking for black switch springs ( enough springs for a tenkeyless)  and cherry stabilizers for a pure pcb ( not sure how many I need). If you have some for sale or could direct me to get my hands on some would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You would most likely need 3 - 2x and 1 - 6.25x. Let me look in my box of wonders. I think I have everything you need.

Answer me this riddle:
A moose comes to a fork in a road. To the left is a nice, sunny path, full of singing birds and such. To the right is a dark, twisted path, with writhing snakes and the like. Which direction does he go?

He'll trail its own?

I also have these things. New, some more (pulled from a Cherry keyboard). But since I'm far away, it's better to go through the deal with esoomomena or someone CONUS.

Seems like it... Maybe someone who knows more  can answer that.. What's preferred springs for ghetto greens? Are they even the same? O.o

Blacks are heavy linear switches. There's 2 "types" of black switches, vintage and regular. Vintage has a lighter spring, and a larger Cherry logo on the stem I believe. They're supposed to be smoother. But I have no experience on it.

Preferred springs for Ghetto Greens are ultimately up to you. I think I'm gonna use vintage because the regular black springs are too crazy for me.

All blacks are linear. The spring most commonly used in ghetto greens is a black spring in a blue switch. That'll give you what you want.

I have Vintage Blacks from whiskytango and they are indeed smoother and a tad bit lighter (you can test that by pressing them against each other with the stems), but I think both comes from use because they don't seem to be equally heavy/smooth (I have about 80). There's also Super Blacks which are hard to find and the heaviest known Cherry switch.

Imagine an entire Super Black board. You'd come out of the first sentence with carpal tunnel :))
