Lord of the Rings, Hachiko, Marley & Me... I can't think of any others.
Not really movies, but I've nearly broken down playing a few video games.

The end of the walking dead game, that got me chocked up, the same with the end of Bioshock, but that was slight anger aswell.

When I first saw T2, I was too young to understand the "sacrifice" part of it, and I also didn't speak english at the time, :D
Watched it years later, and finally got it, and :'(

My analysis..
-marriage
-biological defect
-no adoption, out of stubborness or overly self obsessive over the baby being genetically linked.
-no artificial insemination, same ^^
-poor investment plan, jar of coins, really? lose interest, AND suffer inflation
-house payments larger than they could afford
-poor career choice
-poor career path
-emotional distress leading to lowered immune system and general health
-bad insurance from poor career choice
-death
-their own fault.
I'm not trying to kill the magic, but that's what happened.
Braveheart
Rudy
Not a movie, but Season 3 episode 9 of Game of Thrones wrecked me emotionally for a bit for so many reasons.

I wish there was an easy way to help Tp4tissue be a little more human, but no one has succeeded yet. Perhaps with time...

This is fundamentally different from how I type.
I put out a mostly complete sentence before I do ENTER.
See?
I am Legend... The dog scene. Yeah, you know the one. The first scene, where he's hunting dear in that Mustang with his dog, I KNEW the dog was gonna die at some point.. That mental preparation didn't help. At all.
Other hard hitting movies were AI, The Titanic, iRobot...
Books that have drawn tears were;
Cell by Stephen King
a few of the Harry Potter books
a few pages of The Dark Tower series by Stephen King
I know there are other heart-destroying stories, locked away in my brain somewhere... Oh well. The above will suffice for now.
Uh oh, asperger's alert.

The problem is that it still reads pretty much the same way that moose's post does.

I'm a realist :D
The problem with the "sad" plot portion here is that EVERYTHING was well within their control, these were not children or helpless animals, these were adults not leveraging their abilities and opportunities..
That's why I was not at all saddened by UP
All the movies about children's diseases
can't watch it
Not a movie, but clannad afterstory episodes 16 - 21
FEELS
I couldn't get into the HP books, because the magic system was broken, and there's no way it'd be used the way it was used in the book.
Titanic, idk, the only actual devastation was the loss of so many lives, But we weren't acquainted with the mob through the story, so that did not draw any emotions.
When Leo died it was like, yea that couldn't possibly be the only piece of floating debris.
I get that you could explain it as if the character was exhausted, entering hypothermia, and just couldn't possibly make it to something afloat, but that is bad story telling if it requires the audience to fill in THAT MUCH DETAIL.
Grave of the Fireflies
Mary and Max
I cry more often now since I had my son....here's my list:
What Dreams May Come
Zombieland (part where he talks about his son and when Bill Murray died ;))
The Road
...I'm sure there's more but I'm starting to... :'(
I was babysitting my little niece and watched a cartoon. I thought, oh hey, might as well watch this. Little did I know that this particular cartoon is the most sad, heart wrenching story. I was completely unprepared for it, and kept thinking that "things will surely get better" for the main character, which is a boy who has almost nothing and even loses what little he has.
The name of the movie was "the dog of flanders". And the animation was Japanese.
I am not going to lie. I cried like a little #@&*.
Another movie that made me feel the same was Ghibli's Grave of the fireflies.

I've attempted to watch grave of the fireflies a few times, it's just like with god fathers, where I was too bored to finish either movies...
Read the wiki on the Nello en Patrasche on wiki just now.. That seems sad indeed..
-- was there any significant symbolism to his death?
Hachi: A Dog's Tale
Highlander.
It's probably the most touching documentary I've ever seen.

I'm guessing this isn't the same Highlander I was thinking. No swords and immortality right?

You know, I was going to say this, but was embarrassed to until now. This movie hit me at an angle I wasn't prepared for.

Movie deaths or imminent death just doesn't get to me.
ESPECIALLY when you know it's the main character + children's movie.
They would not let walle die..
I suppose I've just seen too many movies to fall for that fake "PERIL"Show Image(http://www.cute-factor.com/images/smilies/onion/073.gif)
