Also, if you look up her history, Jeri Ellsworth, seems like an interesting gal.

Also, if you look up her history, Jeri Ellsworth, seems like an interesting gal.
She was a rising star in the maker movement about 5 or 6 years ago, then she got hired by Valve to work on some vaporware Steam controller or something, and when that project went belly up it seems like she just sort of dropped off the radar.
I always thought she squandered a great opportunity the Internet gave her--a decent looking woman, super smart in tech and electronics, she could have made a fortune on YouTube if she just stuck with that and churned out a video every week or so.

She certainly has an interesting story, so I looked around at some more information about her. Looks like she is working on a startup for a virtual reality product in Silicon Valley and currently living in Mountain View. I think she made a boatload of cash with the Commodore 64 joystick, to the point that she may never have to be reliant on a job ever again. Seems like you can still buy the thing, not sure if it the exact product that gives her royalties:

So I don't think she exactly needs Youtube, as the joystick seems like the opportunity she took advantage of. But being an attractive women in an industry of nerds is a huge asset, as anyone can tell simply by reading the comments on her Youtube videos.
