Title: Looking for anyone who has repaired Alps switches
Post by: digi on Tue, 13 August 2013, 13:56:02
Got a Focus FK-2001 on eBay but the Alt and Numpad Enter key don't want to work. I read Ripsters old guide for taking apart the switch and it looks good from what I can tell. How can I fix?  :D

More description in regards to failure mode?  Do they not depress?  Have you checked them for continuity?

Both keys depress all the way, I haven't checked them for continuity..

There's always the chance that it's not the switches, checking continuity will give that answer.

Good idea, I'll check that first...I think I'll just remove a couple switches from an unused place and solder it in place..

If you only need a couple switches you can buy matias quiet or clicky switches from mechanicalkeyboards.com 5 at at time.

Man, gotta love the old keyboards, so easy to solder these switches in and out. I'm in business, rock and roll.
