Title: Looking for a keyboard
Post by: furystorn on Tue, 13 August 2013, 14:28:27
I was wondering if you guys could help me find a keyboard. I've been looking but can't really find one that matches my preferences.
I'm looking for a full size black switch mechanical keyboard that has LED back lighting and usb pass through. Audio pass through is nice but I don't need it. Macro keys and media keys are nice too. Basically I'm looking for a keyboard with everything but the LED and usb pass through is the most important. Thanks for the help.

If this is your first mechanical keyboard, my vote is for the QFR.

I can't read sorry.

Razer Blackwidow meets all these criteria, except I'm not sure if any of their models use black switches (wouldn't surprise me, but don't know offhand).

Steelseries 7G meets all criteria except that it lacks a backlight.

Razer blackwidow uses blue switches except in their steath edition which is brown switches. LED lighting is the most important thing.

Are red (also linear) switches okay or are you particularly looking for blacks?

Edit: Why is backlighting such a high priority? Not criticizing, just curious as it does seem a peculiar thing to prize so highly.

Nighthawk from maxkeyboard.com very nice keyboard. My friend has it very solid keyboard and a lot cool features. But again I would agree on getting a cm qfr for a starter keyboard. I bought a ducky shine for my first mechanical and if I can start all over i would get a filco tkl or cm qfr due to easy customization

The keyboard I am looking for is not a starter keyboard. I have used the logitech g710+,  CM Storm QuickFire TK, CM Storm Trigger, and Corsair K90. I currently use Thermaltake G Unit. Black is my prefered switch type. Red was too soft for me.

Ducky Shine.  Choice of switch and LED colour unsurpassed.  Or Ducky Shine Zero if you are on a budget.

no, that's a dumb feature.. just get a usb hub.. It'll be much more compatible than the ones put into any keyboard.

Keyboard wise, You need an Ergodox..

Just throw the rest of your stuff away.. :D

I have a Max Nighthawk and it has both audio and USB passthroughs as well as backlit options. Nighthawks don't come in MX Black but the Tesoro Durandal does... haven't tried that style though.

e: looks like it's a Red/Black mix:

I have several keyboards with USB pass-through, and none have worked property.  They won't even power a simple USB memory stick.

I tend to stick to a separate powered USB hub.
