Title: Poker II for programming
Post by: Rafen on Wed, 14 August 2013, 18:52:40: I was wondering how many people here use their Poker or Poker II for programming? I have been looking for a portable keyboard to use with my laptop for programming. I have also been looking at the Choc mini and KC 84. Let me know if you guys have any problems using this board at work or home when it comes to programming. Thanks for your help.

All 3 of the keyboards you name are very good, though. I personally think the poker 2 is better, though. Dem PBT caps.

Post by: daerid on Thu, 15 August 2013, 17:09:26: Depends on the platform. If you're primarily developing in *nix then a HHKB is awesome. I personally couldn't use it though because the layout hurt my fingers, and I was too entrenched in using arrow keys for Visual Studio. Since moving to the ErgoDox though, I'd say that's my favorite programming board, for sure

Just get something with a layout that's comfortable and fits your need. I need a 104+ because I'm regularly throwing down lots of numeric input. (Suppose I could use a keypad but it was easier to get a DK9008G2 Pro since I wanted MX Greens.)

I've been rotating TypeMatrix 2030 and Noppoo Choc Mini most of the time for about a year. My biggest complaint is that those keyboards don't have a dedicated Insert key. It's quite useful for copypasta in the shell. Otherwise, they're fine... Although, completely symmetric ErgoDox with thumb clusters beats them both.

Definitely my #2 is the 660C, without a doubt.

At least until the InvaderDox is complete! (Yeah, that's what I'm calling it, deal wif it)

Post by: Rafen on Thu, 15 August 2013, 19:53:27: I ended up ordering the Poker II since I think it has the most standard layout for keycaps and has a layout that I am a custom to. Most of the developing I do is in windows and work as a network technician so I also right scripts for different things. So I think the layout of the poker II will fit those needs.
