I was super excited for X/Y until they announced mega evolutions. Now I'm skeptical, but I'll still play it of course.

I remember when I first ran into the grass and encountered a Chansey right away. I was curious as to how much health it actually had, so I proceeded to hammer on it. Impressive. But i regret knocking out, because I couldn't find one for the longest time after that...

I think I stopped playing Pokemon at Silver/Gold versions for the gameboy color lol. Charmander will always be my starter!
What I wish they would do is make an amazing Pokemon MMO for PC. I know there are PokeMMO ones out there that are fan based, but a legitimate 3D one would be friggin amazing!

You must be confused; my Wigglytuff has always beaten Dragonite :-).
But honestly, I did see the new Fairy type when I happened to look into the new game coming out, and even if it is super-effective against dragon, Wigglytuff would still do more damage with Seismic Toss methinks considering its only good stat is HP.

That's why it's so good for pokemon with lower attack stats, and especially defensive pokemon :-). With two fully leveled-up pokemon facing each other, you're guaranteed 100 damage a hit regardless of the opponent's defense or your attack. It also leaves you free to distribute your EVs to HP and Defense or Sp. Defense.
In the competitive battling circuit, I don't think I ever saw a Blissey that didn't have Seismic Toss or a Dusknoir without Night Shade, and I used to battle quite a bit when B/W came out. Those things were a nightmare to take down.
Yeah.. I think you can beat pretty much all the games just by engorging your starter with all the exp. points and overpowering everything, lol. The real fun to be had is in multiplayer.
It's been a long time since I've played, but we should have a battle sometime! It would be fun digging out the DS.
Every time I see footage of the new game it makes me hope that someone organizes and streams a competitive league on it, because it just seems like it would be a lot of fun to watch.

Note that the bolting is only temporary and I will use flat head screws with bras stand offs for the final version. I'm waiting on the brass stand-offs.
Well the problems are:
- Black acrylic has to be thicker, it was too thing and there was crazy warping like I had never seen before.
- Red acrylic just cut plain bad, will get this cut again.
So, yeah, I need to get the black ad red parts cut again.

It skips over a TON of stuff, Its average on its own.
However its a really good nostalgia trip, and I can definitely recommend it to anyone who has played the first generation of games.

I haven't played since Gen I, so all this talk of shiny pokemon has me quite confused. Don't worry, I googled it, but it's still foreign to me. This'll be an interesting experience once I finally get it.

Normal frog. After giving up resetting for shiny charmander in fire red recently, screw the shine.
And then second starter I grabbed charmander.
My current lineup is those two, a kadabra, a farfetched and leveling up the sword. Using a honeycomb thing to gather honey. Swarms are boss!

There are TONS of great games for the 3DS.
Just to name a few: Fire Emblem, Mario Kart 7, Animal Crossing, Mario and Luigi, Luigi's Mansion 2, Monster Hunter 3, Professor Layton, etc.
And not yet released: The Legend of Zelda A Link Between Worlds, Super Smash Bros, Monster Hunter 4.

This whole first playthrough for me has just been Style Savvy with the occasional, inconvenient dog fight ;D

You may also need to take a ride in a cab once, as well as beat the Lumiose Gym Leader.

I got something better after more rerolling
iirc the 40 with quiet wasn't a max roll, and 33 on spD and 63 on HP was too low of a roll
I ended up with a max roll on spA 38 without bonus nature and a possible max roll on spD 38 with bonus nature and I think 65HP
The torchic took way longer then this but that I had base stats to refer to so it was less work

I just got the box art legendry Pokemon and have to say I'm finding it super super easy, I've breezed through all the gyms and fights without a problem and I've no idea what any of the non original 151 Pokemon are...The xp share makes the game extremely easy, agreed.
I completely forgot that friend codes are useful for the friend safari even if I can't battle yet due to the transfer not being up.Yep, its quite good to get pokémon!

There were hidden values every time you battle a pokemon and you would gain EVs it wasn't till later people found out how to properly min max the game. So if you didn't know everytime you battle a pidgey you would gain 1 speed EV and every 4 EV is one stat point, so to max a stat you need 252 which means you need to fight pidgey 252 times no more no less (you had a +/- 2 points as leeway)
They made generation VI (x & y) very easy, as you can do the mini game to EV train before you had to do the math on paper and if you miscounted you were pretty ****ed, they also adjusted the max value for EVs too so there is zero counting unless you want a specific HP amount for lets say a snorlax
What I was doing in the picture was rolling for starting stats, you would do the same in all the older ones too, min maxing is where the fun is

Agree the game is crazily easy this gen. I hate the new Exp Share mechanic. On the plus side I'm glad they fix the EV problem so you dont screw yourself over when you get to 255 instead of 252. Usually I only played to get to know about new pokemons, new moves, and breeding then I just go straight for mIRC or smogon nowaday for competitive battles.
Also tsangan, it is possible to get perfect IVs pokemon now through breeding, you only need to get the right nature.

Someone randomly challenged me to a single battle, so I played him with the in-game team I've been lugging around. His Tyrantrum destroyed my Simisear, then my Swanna got revenge only to be taken out by his Mega Aerodactyl. Somehow, my Vanilluxe managed to sweep both his remaining Mega Aerodactyl and Onix, so I won, woohoo! I'm hoping that there is an option for a flat, 6 vs. 6 battle.

Apparently, by breeding with a foreign pokemon, your chances of getting a shiny would be much higher.

I've only ever seen two legit in-game shinies in my 18 year Pokemon career.
One was a Luvdisc, absolutely the most worthless Pokemon ever to exist.
The other was a Cubone that ran away in the Safari Zone.

Glad to see that some of the competitive youtubers are starting on X/Y now, but it probably won't be as widespread this time around unless/until they can hack the rom for whatever pokemon/stats they wanted, like they did with the previous gens. They'll actually have to breed them for IVs themselves, level them up, and EV train.

I only played b/w for pokebank. I personally found them the worst on the series. I spent so much time in d/p to get all event pokemon I could from serebii forums so I have multiplies of a lot of earlier gen legendaries.

I really only bought the game to transfer my old stuff to it, so the indefinite delay of pokemon bank is a bummer.
Wouldn't have happened if they just included a local transfer option like they always have instead of a paid online service.
Pretty disappointed at the delay, I rushed through HG/B2 for the pokes I still needed.
Now they're all stuck on B2 D:
Pokebank is our now for Europe and Australia, I spent 4 hours just transferring one cart over, one more to go. So slow.

how do you guys feel about the mystery dungeon series? I remember loving it as a kid. I bought the latest as a semiadult and now the gameplay seems real stale, but I'm still engaged due to nostalgia.. and of course, the rad storyline.
I lost my completed Pokemon White Kart on a plane ;_; so I'm now playing White 2 in Italian... Watching the twitchplayspokemon stream though, I miss the days of just 151 Pokemon... Such good times... Now I need to use bulbapedia in order to work out what some Pokemon are!

I certainly hope not. Catching the pokemon looked fun enough, but I'm still a little confused on what the battle system will be or what the overall goal of the game is.
Would still prefer the classic pokekom RPG franchise to come to mobile, but this looks like something a little bit similar, at the very least.
