Halverson and I were sorting caps in a crap bag and we found some SP colorways that were really interesting: Pink on Grey. I would be very interested in that. Or we can just cut the bull**** and say pink on purple with reverse mods :P

If someone can clear something up for me (yes, I am that slow) I didn't know that SP could do coloured PBT injection models. In fact they are not producing any that are of exacting quality, like it is with the standard ABS material.
I would like them to START producing various coloured PBT injection moulded caps. But I chickened out and went for ABS which they know how to do easily.
If they can absolutely guarantee quality PBT coloured key-caps, then I would pick PBT every time.

The thing about the ergodox and legends is that almost everyone uses different layout, so you can't cater for everything. That said, the only GB that ever had usable legended keys for the ergodox was the DSA Retro. Specifically kit 7 and kit 9 from the picture below. When compared to these, blanks for mods on the ergodox just doesn't really measure up. Of course, the prices are a factor - if offering blanks - do check if its possible for blanks to be available, outside of a kit - meaning purchased loosely.
I have no idea what magic Matt3o and Samwisekoi worked in the past for their GB, but I believe I actually paid a mere 23 dollars (I could be mistaken though, but I believe it was around this amount) for enough blanks to cover one ergodox (granted, the DSA retro was a ginormous buy). I have no idea if this is the reason, but paying 25 bucks for a 'ergodox kit' of blanks that aren't even complete (thinking commando here), or more than 50 bucks for a complete dolch blanks ergodox kit (refering to DSA Dolch blanks) doesn't seem like an attractive deal to me, when considering the options DSA retro had.
Do keep in mind that I bring this up not as a criticism/complaint to the aforementioned groupbuys (they offered something, I took a look, wasn't interested enough to join, and that's that), but as a possible explanation as to why those ergodox kits didn't exactly garner much interest.
Legend options wise, price wise, they just didn't compare to the Retro DSA imho. My personal take is that I wouldn't buy any more ergodox keycap kits unless they're able to at least 'match up' in terms of flexibility and options for legends; i.e. I wouldn't swap out my set with legends for a set with blanks.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but an ErgoDoxer would be interested in a set of alphas, as well as kits 7 and 9 as you listed, right?
Once I get a response back from SP, I'll bring it up, get prices, and offer them. If no one takes me up on the ergo kits, I'm not going to be heartbroken over it, I'm just trying to offer as many options as possible.
On a side note. I'm making the call, here. We're going forward with On a Roll. I'll be resetting the voting page, so we can do a new vote on 3 variants of On a Roll. Same keycap colors, but voting on alternate legends. The options will be White, as shown, Beige, as I linked, and grey.
If you've got another idea for legends on this set, post an example.

I can't decide between the legend colors.
I think grey will be to subtle for the text. White is too easy which will make it boring. I think red is and odd match for the color scheme.

Hell yeah! I'm all for that Yolch action. I think it has enough support to take off as a separate project, I just don't know who would be up to run it. I don't have enough faith in my responsibility skills to keep a GB in order.

More color options means fewer orders per color, which increases costs for everyone (since setup costs are so high).

You are assuming that those who didn't get their color of choice are going to order the most popular color.
I've got some bittersweet news.
First, got the reply I wanted so badly, and the prices are manageable. Biggest price break is at 50 buyers. I'll post a writeup of all the numbers once I get all the numbers, but as an example. If we have 25 buyers, a standard TKL set, alphas and mods, is $95, where at 50 buyers, we're looking at $75. From there each price break is still significant, but that $20 break at 50 buyers is... big.
So that's my goal. 50. If we get more, outstanding.
Now, in the email she had this to say:
"The texture of the keycaps isn't consistent between rows - i.e. the 1.75 space Row 3 keycap is only available with a semi-matte top surface, while the 1.25 space Row 4 keys are only available with a matte top surface."
Now this doesn't sound like a big deal, and it doesn't sound like going with different profiles would help us at all. No matter what we do here, we're getting unmatched mod textures.
What do you think? Is this a big deal? Deal breaker for anybody?
It sounds like everything is available in both options, except as specifically mentioned it. It boils down to if we want the rest of the keyboard to match the 1.75 R3 keys, or match the 1.25 R4 keys.
Personally, I think it would be less weird having the R4 keys out of place, so my vote is for Semi-Matte finish.
Question. Anybody want to help me do some mockups for the alternate sets? I'd like to have some pictures for the OP of the GB so people know what they're purchasing.

Sweet I'll keep that in mind mate, I was going to get some Anti-Caps Lock kits made but the demand wasn't very high so I might start thinking of some full set schemes instead.

I think it would be nice for those who don't want an ISO kit to have the option of stepped center stemmed capslock.

Very much appreciate the addition of the option for an ergodox set. To make a complete set, would I have to buy the alpha set? If I do, would there be an option to take out some of the keys such as the f-row? It doesn't seem like an option from the previous posts but I wanted to make sure.
Yeah you'd need an alpha. And I doubt OP will have one without f-row.
The thing is if we have 10 kit, then orders get divided abnd price per kit is high, however if we have 5 kits, there will be more people per kit, and it would end up being almost the same price as that one kit from the ten that you wanted, and you get more caps (Albeit, you might end up with extras you will never use)

I agree this would be nice to have, but I would be surprised if SP had a mold for that in SA profile.
I'll come forward and say that I was the one that made the ISO+ and Tsangan+ bundle.
The ISO+ is basically ISO+Short ANSI Enter+Anticapslock, essentially alternate mods for Row 4,3 and 2.
The Tsangan+ is basically Tsangan + some other mods, essentially alternate mods for Row 1.
She had preliminary ideas, but I didn't mention stepped caps lock, so we'll see what they have to say.

I don't know if SP can do a stepped Caps Lock key with the SA Profile. Someone said much earlier that it wasn't on the cards due to lack of a mould for the stepped caps lock.
Maybe Signature Plastics saw how popular the SA profile is now and might of finally offered one but we don't know unless you ask (SP Guru) Melissa.

I was checking out the Wang terminal keyboard, the only one I have with SA profile caps, and it uses Row3 for the entire number block, plus all the stand-alone modifiers (Erase, Clear, Load, Run, etc.). Unless you look closely, the different key profiles don't stand out, I think having multiple rows in Row3 profile would be fine.

All row 3 for the three alpha rows only -- different rows for numbers/function keys/ spacebar row mods/ etc.
This is what the commando GB is doing as well, and it let them get correctly-sized keys for all the mods (R4 had short shifts/enter).
Hopefully, a row 2 esc key is included for poker type boards.
