This is pretty cool!

Looks cool.
I end up using a frozen cup to keep my drinks cool. It's kind of a pain.
-
Great find. I'll have to keep an eye on this.

Indeed, they have smashed their goal and still have a month to go

living in a tropical country, I've had plenty of experience with 'stainless steel'.
you sure that thing can survive coke or mountain dew? not to mention, I like drinking to the last drop and having that big heavy ball roll down and smash my mouth isn't my idea of fun.

They got the different shape ones that won't do that.
Buh... yea.. I don't see the point of this.. As human beings we're more than capable of strategically chilling our drinks ahead of time..
I've never ever NEEDED an ice cube when i'm in the house..
And if someone would buy these for that ONE time they NEEDED a quick cool.... That's asking ALOT @ $11 a piece...
But if you're terribly forgetful, or don't look ahead on what is a trivial life task, then yea... Pay Up

I'm not knocking the product, I acknowledge that they're much above Ice-cubes.
But they're not quite so convenient.
you also have to take them out of the freezer, rinse them probably, then they freeze on your hand a little bit, You pry them off into your liquid or cup, you probably have to switch away from glass, because that large metal ball dropping all the time will probably crack the glass..
AND you can't use these in the nice crystal glasses, you have to resort to cheap glass, which are more prone to cracking..
THEN, there's the fact that you have to replace these washed back into your fridge after you've used them..
that's 3 extra refrigerator trips, 2x amount of washing..
ON second thought... ffff... this thing suxxx

looks like they thought of that

Apparently they are half as dense as soapstones, so I guess the impact will be smaller? :p

Anyone want to split an order? (or 5 people want to join in) effectively making it one shortie and one baller for $20 ish

I would if I wasn't in Canada.

I dunno about these, I'm wary after wasting $10 on useless whiskey stones.

Interesting you should say this. What is the reason you can't use them in leaded glassware?
Also, I wouldn't necessarily call non-leaded class "cheap". Sure, I'd like to see some more "good" ceramics used in glassware, but you can already get borosilicate (pyrex) and class-ceramic (corelle) pretty easily.
So, I drink out of bowls a lot (mainly 'cause the bowls we have here are really small. too small to hold pasta, but a great size to hold a drink) I wonder if this would work in that application at all.

I just joined - this is exactly what I have been looking for.
