Firefox, because of the pluggins, nothing wrong with any of the modern browsers.

It comes down to the pluggins.

Firefox has most of the good ones.

Color toggle, Flashblock, Adblock, Toolbar autohide, emoti converter (http://www.cute-factor.com/images/smilies/onion/d16c4689.gif)

Firefox.

Opera for a background Youtube feed.

IE-something-or-other for specific work-related applications.

Tor on my home PC.

Funny story

My brother uses a virtual school mixed with b&m HS. The site was made in 1998/1999. Some of the 'video clips' don't even work in a modern browser. They say things like: "Your browser is not compatible. Please use an updated browser such as Internet Explorer 5 or Netscape 4 on a Windows PC(tm) running Windows(tm) 95 or later."

He's using whatever was the newest version of firefox a month ago.

I have much love for Opera. Although I'm not keen on upgrading to Opera 15/Next, so I'm sticking to 12 for now. Not sure how long I'll stick to it before I switch to another browser, it is starting to get outdated already.

I use Waterfox, a tweaked 64bit Firefox.  I love Firefox, you can do almost anything with it to make it how you want.

Chrome, I feel like I'm using an Iphone, it's so dumbed down. It works well, but if it can't do what you need, you have no way to fix it. The developers have no intention of changing this aspect of it, which means for some work I do, it won't function.  Opera, works, but last time I used it I found the interface clunky and it lacks add-ons.  I.E. is a trojan/virus magnet, always has been.

Chrome opens faster than Firefox / Waterfox and feels faster.  That's the main reason I stick with Chrome and have for many years, though I've tried Waterfox on 2 different fast machines.  There's No-script for Chrome as well as all the usual plug-ins, like AdBlock and FlashBlock.  That only goes for my desktops.  I have to use Firefox on Linux at work (no administrative privileges to change it) and prefer Safari / Mercury on iPad.

Another thing I love about Chrome is the low amount of wasted space at the top of the screen.  It has no title bar and is very minimalistic.  Waterfox is bulkier.

I use vimperator and side tree tabs. I have nothing at the top of my screen. No tabs, no address bar, nothing. Just a statusbar on the bottom and tabs on the side.

Waterfox starts in under 1 second for me (desktop, 2 second laptop), and actually is a tad faster than Chrome I think.
If you are just browsing, Chrome works great, beyond that and I want to start pounding my head into the desk. Just like an Iphone.

I use Chromium (SRware Iron) though I'm considering switching back to links2 for forum usage (and general web browsing. I also keep opera and firefox (extended support) around for various tasks, though I haven't been a serious firefox user since they dropped 3.6 support)

And you think your webbrowser starts fast.

Also, there is nothing wrong with old hardware. I fully intend on using my inet packet analyzer to browse GH and use IRC. Eventually, I hope to upgrade it with 128 mb of RAM

Also liking Waterfox 24 oddly because it's a true 64bit browser and doesn't get much mention out there in the public sphere.

Firefox w/ VimFx, TreeStyleTab, Lazarus and obvious security-centric add-ons. Also, soon-to-be-self-hosted Firefox Sync. And can't forget personal user.js config file.

The situation around web browsers is just sad. Anything Chromium-based is broken by design, Mozilla only keeps on copying that, Opera recently got completely ****ed up, and MSIE should have never existed. Add to the equation mentally-challenged web devs with the same mindset as in the early MSIE vs. Netscape era... and the hell is complete.

Meh vimium is usable. Covers most of what I used vimperator for anyway. I'd probably be using FF more if it had equivalent addons for the chrome extensions that I couldn't live without, but it doesn't. And a lot of the addons I used to use don't even work anymore :( Newest FF is hideous by default too in my opinion. On the other hand, chrome absolutely sucks with themes..

Right now, I'm mainly using chromium, canary, and chrome beta.

Just me or Chrome has been crashing a lot lately? :(

Only have Adblock plus and Google Docs enabled in extensions :(

Chrome has been incredibly unstable for me lately. I made the switch to Firefox this morning, I still prefer the layout of Chrome but I can sacrifice a bit of convenience for stability.

You should try Internet Explorer. It's always been very stable for me.

Chrome has been crashing because it's a piece of crap. You need to use Internet Explorer.

I tried to use Chrome over last weekend but it was flakey to say the least.  Firefox is still being used simply because it works on my desktop, even though I'm stuck with Win 8 Pro.

Definitely use Internet Explorer. IE beats the hell out of that chrome crap.

Actually, there is:

It lets you extract any video from a flash plugin and download it.

I would use Chrome if I could but it's rendering engine does not like to play nice with alternative shells.
Whenever explorer.exe is not running, everything breaks :(.

As such, I use FF... One thing I do like that FF has over Chrome though is Ctrl+Shift+E.

I applaud your fanaticism for IE 6.0.  Never met anyone that is a card carrying supporter of IE no matter what version it is.  My main concern is always going to be support and safety when using that older browser when banking and paying bills with current businesses.

Can you be 100% certain that IE 6.0 will function securely as all the up to date browsers that are currently available?  That is very important for me at least.

Well, okay, I guess it's just Firefox with a different name, but still... Different name.

That's for when I'm in Linux. Windows I use Firefox (almost switched to Chrome, but I'm too used to the tab management in FF), Android I use Boat browser.

Who cares about being up to date? Internet Explorer 6 is a timeless classic that will never go out of style. Internet Explorer 6 is the ultimate answer to being an innovative leader in the computing industry!

Okay you seem so adamant about IE 6.0 above everything else.  I'll be installing it on an old XP SP3 box this coming weekend.  Then I'll reminisce using a classic once again  :thumb: .

Adblock works fine on Chrome for me. There are just too many plugins on Firefox that I go overboard and download everything, so it just turns super slow. Chrome feels so much faster.

I had the same problem with firefox until I turned off intel speed step..  I really don't care if it kills my CPU in half the time...  The computer is so much more responsive..

you can also turn off power states on AMD cppu if you're on a desktop..

Sorry, but I just had to.  I don't hate IE6 as much as Microsoft does.  I personally use Firefox, but it has been having performance issues lately.  I will probably switch to Chrome but I will consider Opera or IE11.

Yes, why is that women seem to find it so attractive to use?    My mrs seems transfixed with using it as well yet it's only a slightly skinned Chrome-based browser.

This maybe the future of browsers  .....who knows, although I like the Torrent feature that's inbuilt within the app, nice.

I actually quite enjoy the most recent version of IE. I switch between it and PaleMoon.

Pale Moon is a firefox-based browser that was basically designed to fix all the issues I have with Firefox (unnecessary bloat). It works with most of Firefox's plugins and has served me very well. So far in two weeks of use I have not had any memory leaks, which is fantastic.

I prefer to keep my horsepr0n for myself, thus Firefox w/ FF Sync on my own server, because it supports client-side encryption.

You're lucky, you have a woman who is comfortable with you installing/uninstalling stuff on her PC, mine won't let me go anywhere near her laptop but that could be due to other factors  ;) .

Doesn't matter what version of browser you use you'll get exploits of one version or another.  Just couple what ever browser you're using with BitDefender and you'll be fine  :thumb: .

IE6 hasn't had any updates since over 5 years ago. It may as well be wide open, regardless of what you pair it with.

Safari is too much of a memory hog, plus I am still on Snow Leopard and that Safari is a few versions behind.

Besides, that would be like telling all Windows users to stick with what Gatesy or Ballsy gave them :))

Same here.  Chrome on both (and on Linux, although most of my Linux machines are text UI only).
