Title: The Fishing Thread
Post by: Halverson on Mon, 26 August 2013, 19:27:10
Figured I would throw this thread up, don't recall ever seeing one.

Do you fish? Want to fish?

Post stories and pictures! Dreams and plans!

I've had a fair amount of fishing journeys this summer. Recently pulled out a nice pike that I'll be eating tonight.

Was 39" and about 18 pounds.

It's much harder with a rod, it's a sport at that point.

Use cm and Kg like normal people :P On a serious note, nice catch man!
We have them in a river close to where I live, but the biggest one I caught was only a bit over 3kg.
I am more of a trout and greyling-fisher myself,

I am not really a fisher, but for the last 3 years I went fishing for 2-3 days with the job. It's really nice even if doing it once a year is enough for me.

The only real "fishing story" that I can tell is one year, I went fishing on ice with some guys from the job (was my first time) and well we drilled the holes, put the lines and waited. There was nothing for like 2 hours, nothing at all, and then we got a catch. So we all go look at it only to realise that the fish is HUGE.

So the experienced fisher managed to get it out of the hole (barely since it was quite exactly the width of the hole) and we realized it was an sturgeon, and a quite big one. We all took a picture with it and released it since it was not the season. It was not the best fishing experience of my life since fishing on ice is quite boring, but it was still quite a surprise to get so big a fish!
