Title: Sticky Spacebar on Poker x
Post by: melt on Thu, 29 August 2013, 06:08:03
Hey guys, I'm having issues with my spacebar on my recently acquired poker.  It works fine when hitting in the center, but hit on the edges then the spacebar gets jammed a bit.  Any advice on how to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

EDIT: I'm sure it's the stabilizers... as it's only in the corners....

Take the keycap off and pull the stabiliser stems up and down with your hands. Is there any jamming when you do this? If so, you might consider modifying the stem of the stabilisers. This helps to stop jamming and generally makes the stabilisers feel nicer :

Or maybe is a matter of lubing stabilizers a bit?

thanks so much for the info! much appreciated.  I pulled them together and they seem fine.. hmmm, maybe they are not in sync, if that makes sense?

The Poker uses Cherry stabilizers, which are known to be not as good without modding and can sometimes feel sticky or somewhat weird. If you don't want to clip the stabilizers, you could try lubing them which also helps a lot. Check out my guide (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=46376.0) to see how to do that.

cherry stabilizers are more sensitive to warped spacebars.

Your space bar is likely warped.

Get a new space bar.

I second TP4. I know people who've remedied similar issues by getting a new spacebar.

You should be able to see if the spacebar is warped, mine used to stick too and lubing fixed it and made it feel a lot better. I think a spacebar has to be quite severely warped to cause such sticking.
