You should define if it is a blank or a skull and if blank which row. The skulls should be a bit more heavy, cause the skullface is on top of the normal keycap.
-
Perhaps for non mass produced caps we should add images?
-
sorry that candycorn was blank and the hardcore white is a skull
here is the weight of the candycorn mx tricolor skull
2.39g
edit: added that it is mx

candycorn blank mx arrow kit

This information needs to be in a table. Keeping up with slashes and following the different lengths as things get added will be a nightmare.

Kenmai9 made a spreadsheet, thx!
I edited the 1st post...

Someone got stock cherry caps (ABS and POM), zinc caps, or some aluminum spacebars to measure?
I got Jelly POMs and a 1st gen Hammer titanium spacebar, but lack the stuff mentioned above...

I was wondering...why not also include pictures for the type of available cap, including the source/period in which is was created/produced. For newer members like me, it might interesting to know what key caps were made where, and when, etc...
It would be like a key cap compendium. All names, pics, dates, and stats collected here, etc...
-
cool. i got a question. what will happen when putting a hammer 1st gen space bar on to a 45g spring switch?

Since the weight is spread out over a fairly wide area, I imagine that it wouldn't actuate the switch, but would be an incredibly light spacebar.

As ComradeSniper wrote, the force needed for actuation will decrease somewhat, the key will feel lighter...
We estimated (http://"http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=46762.msg989915#msg989915") that probably only a "thick style" stainless-steel spacebar would be enough to get anywhere close to self-actuation ;)

Actually "Mr. Keyboard Science" and me already did this way back then, but it was lost!
Gonna do it again as soon I find the time and effort... ;P

I don't mind helping/researching if we decide on a way to collect and disseminate the information in a digestible way. I'm interested to learn and see all the options from years gone by. It'd be a good experience and source of information for people, as well we use the community's collective knowledge and experience for itself.

That's cool! Perhaps you could setup some sort of "catalog" where we enter:
- Production year
- Manufacturer
- GB handler / Seller
- Production #
- Original Price
- Material
- Profile
- Mugshot
New key-sets could be entered easily each time a GB is done...
For older ones we need to do some research and talking (ie. permission to use images).
-
Perhaps we should start by thinking up some standard for submissions...
Which info? Formatted in which way? What should images show? How? Resolution and framing? Etc. etc.

Hmm. Not home at the moment, but I can throw some simple code together to host on my site and that can be a place to enter everything.
Should get back tomorrow, and we can try to hash out more details over the next little bit.

Sounds cool! Joint venture with joint rights to content?
Got a website as well, but it's not finished yet ^^;

Ok, started taking images...
Let's do 800x800 for single caps, 1200x800 for spacebars or wide keycap arrangements!
-
i can measure some SP SA caps but i dont have a digital scale.

A analog caliper should work... ^^
Mainly interested in thickness (walls) and height (bottom to highest point).
