I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this and if some letters are missing in the text, I'm using a really old keyboard that doesn't work properly.
I saw a thread on this few minutes ago and I just wanted to ask how do you use distilled water to rinse the keyboard.
I saw this as well http://imgur.com/a/9sHx7
What happened:
I spilled chocolate milk over my razer blackwidow ultimate, turned it over immediately and waited a bit. Took off the caps and tried to plug it in and test... Didn't work although the leds were dim but working. This all happened in around 10 mins.
That's good news.
Now you can safely get a new keyboard without feeling guilty about it.
Congratulations.
Seriously, Don't bother fixing it.. Time to get an Ergodox.Show Image(http://www.cute-factor.com/images/smilies/onion/014.gif)
What are the chances that the "G" and "H" keys would stop working on your old keyboard, but everything else seems fine ;) /conspiracy theories.
I said "old keyboard" :)
That's good news. This is the best adivce anyone can give you in this situation :D .

Black Widows have a bad reputation here for being overpriced for what they are. I imagine you could try pouring some high % alcohol into the switches (96%+) or squirting some high quality contact cleaner and waiting for a long time for the switches to dry. But at worst (and likely), you may need to desolder the switches, disassemble, clean, reassemble, resolder. And it might be better to just get a cheap CM QFR :)
Hrm, we have some Brazilians here--hopefully they will see this thread and can weigh in on some keyboard recommendations if needed.
ow can I not feel guilty
ow can I not feel guilty
He's saying that most people here purchase new keyboards when they don't need them, but you most definitely need one after the chocolate milk fiasco. Therefore, you can shot to your heart's desire, knowing that you are not unnecessarily wasting money :-).
If it doesn't work after drying out, then I would venture to say it's done for :-(.
The thing is, even if you managed to clean it and dry it up, it won't function as well. I am sure some LED light would be broken or some keys would not registered. It's a pain, I know.. and I feel for you. But I think there's not much you can do.
Having said that, this thread does give some cleaning guides: http://www.overclock.net/t/491752/mechanical-keyboard-guide
So what I don't understand is, if it is possible to clean, why can't he?
Unless the guide is for mechanical keyboard without LED microchips and what not. I guess if it is purely mechanical and there are no microelectronics, cleaning is highly possible.
Is BlackWidow that bad or just a prejudice against Razer's marketing? The 2013 version spec looks attractive.

They really are "that bad" quality has been, and continues to be atrocious.
Their marketing has been their most successful play.
So I take it that BWU 2013 has improved in terms of quality, except maybe needing a better key caps.
I asked because we don't have much choice in Malaysia on mechanical. Razer is everywhere on the shelf. We can get SteelSeries v6 in certain stores. It's limited. The other brand that are available are Filco. The rest, we have to import. So I gravitate towards BWU 2013.
Ehh.
You might have made a mistake by plugging it in within 10 minutes.. I'd say the minimum time to wait would be 24-48 hours. That's how I broke my first mechanical keyboard (BlackWidow Ultimate).
