Title: any kind of "round 5" planned in the near future?
Post by: skuko on Mon, 02 September 2013, 10:28:04
i should probably ask this on deskthority, but since i don't have an account there (yet) and i'm at work and can't access it properly (damn filters), i figured i might as well ask here.

i just found out about that awesome thing called round 4, only to be left sad by the fact that it's already over :(

those caps look freaking awesome, any idea whether there's something similar planned in the near future? i'm new to this enthusiast thing :)

i think the double shot crazy is dieing down.

SP still has the burrs on the front which makes the caps quite unattractive, and a rather startling blemish on an otherwise great product.

If you want DS, they make better ones for $90.

ontop of that thick dyesub pbt is there, and they are just as sharp, and arguable shine resistent.

Yeah seems like the trend is shifting to thick PBT keycaps.  However you can still browser group buy forum periodically to see if anything pops up.

:P

People are still doing plenty of double-shot group buys, it's just that they're tired of the same old color schemes again and again.

I think, honestly, Round 4 was too complex and ambitious.

We seem to be moving to smaller group buys, with limited options.  Round 4 tried to sell everything to everyone, and it took years to complete and probably devoted a lot of effort to some packages that sold few, if any, units.

Any GB that takes years to complete is too much.

zomg Round 5!

If you could order today, you'd get your keycaps in January, 2015.  That is no joke.  It took that long for Round 4.

They look nice, but looking back, for what I spent, I could have gotten a (IMO) much better GMK or even OG Cherry set
