Title: What movie sequel would you most like to see?
Post by: calavera on Wed, 04 September 2013, 19:50:08
Sure, sequels are usually doomed from the start but lets ignore that for now.  ;D
For me I definitely want to see sequels to these:

District 9 (script in the works may be?)
The Bourne series (with Matt Daemon back at the helm and may be Jeremy Renner too)

Even if they had to reboot it what movie sequel/prequel would you want to see?

I think the dark knight series is the exception to the bad sequel rule. But we will see with Ben afleck I guess :)

um.... there were so many already, so it wouldn't be a sequel.

i would like to see a sequel to the hobbit movies in the form of 6 LOTR films, one for each book. Or hell, 12, 2 for each, since they're doing 3 movies based on the hobbit. also not a sequel but a 'reboot' of brazil would be pretty sweet if handled correctly.

The director of the first refused to do a sequel unless the script is good. So who knows.

I really want a true "Dumb and Dumber" sequel. I think those two characters would be even funnier in their older age. I'm really curious to see what those boneheads are up to!

It's actually in the works. Supposedly the script is brilliant, not even joking. The Farrellys have been working on it as a labor of love for almost a decade and it starts shooting this month.

How recent did you hear this? I heard it was on then it was off. Just all over the place.

EDIT: Just did research on this and I'm happy! I thought this died and stopped looking into it.

More Serenity (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0379786/).

not going to happen...

The actors are getting too old...

it's too late.... (http://www.cute-factor.com/images/smilies/onion/0eeeff42.gif)

I am content with just cherishing the fact that such a fantastic sci-fi live-action ever existed.

I would love to see a Serenity sequel, and it's never too late, they are doing the new SW movies with the original actors  :D
Also Joss Whedon said that when the time is right (se is busy atm) it might be possible.

And i want to see badly the Blade Runner sequel/prequel/whatever which is in preproduction now  :D

(Attachment Link)

There's no such thing as originality..

After they wrote the bible, that was everything as far as stories involving "people"...

From then, it's just been about "best presentation" of a not so original story arranged in different orders.

And I accept that...

I love remakes..

Tho the bible lacks time-travel, there are some really good movies involving time-travel (Back to the Future, Terminator, Butterfly Effect...)
Actually, the only sequels I really enjoyed are: Aliens, Terminator 2, Indiana Jones 2 and 3, Star Wars Ep V and VI...

SEQUELS ARE NOTHING BUT AN EXCUSE FOR THE IDIOTS RUNNING THE MOVIE INDUSTRY TO MAKE EXTRA MONEY. IT COSTS LESS MONEY TO JUST MAKE ANOTHER MOVIE ABOUT THE SAME THING THAN ACTUALLY THINK UP SOMETHING NEW FOR ONCE.

THAT'S WHY I DON'T GO TO THE MOVIES. THEY HAVEN'T SHOWED ANYTHING WORTH WATCHING IN YEARS. THERE'S MORE CRAP IN A MOVIE THEATER THAN AN OUTHOUSE.

Thinking about it some more, they could do another Back to the Future movie...
I know M. J. Fox has parkinson, but the movie could take place in the future  where Marty is old (like 90), so the shaking would fit the role.
The main character could be his son, perhaps working with the now also adult sons of Doc Brown? Would need some good story etc. to make it work.

You know. I really like Alien: Resurrection. I think the main reason is because Joss Whedon wrote it and it's like a trial run of Firefly characters (except with Aliens).

No not replicants (essentially Aliens exist as they do becasue of our hated towards each other), but Aliens/Prometheus is set a long, long time after Blade Runner so if they are linked Replicants simply became the robots that exist in the Aliens/Prometheus universe.

Had a co-worker of mine, really nice woman who worked in Sales, come back from Las Vegas with a funny story about that zombie movie.  She had an evening free after a sales conference, and decided to take in a movie at the theater next to the MGM Grand.  She said she really liked 28 Days, the Sandra Bullock film, so when she saw that 28 Days Later was opening, she was really excited.  As she told me afterwards, it wasn't quite what she was expecting to see.

I agree, I could see more Back to the Future movies (but you'd have to replace Michael J. Fox as Mary McFly, and get a new Dr. Brown, which would be hard to do).

I could also see more Aliens movies, and more Predator movies.  And more Aliens v. Predators is good too.

Also I could go for more Avengers and Iron Mens.  However, I could do without this current Spider Man.  Also Ben Affleck as Batman is not doing it for me.

Another Jaws killer shark movie would be good timing about now.

And of course I can never get enough zombie movies.  The Return of the Living Dead (not Romero) series is ready for another installment (last one was in early '90's).  Night of the Living Dead which is George Romero, which is the original zombie classic, can be remade another 10 times, and I would see them all.  Or Day of the Dead, or Day After the Dead, or w/e.

I always thought a squeal to The Usual Suspects could potentially work. The ending was kind of open ended, and I actually like it like that. But if it were artfully done, and I mean with some consideration and care, a squeal could actually work. Bringing back the Keyser Soze character in a different way, Verbal was just a cover and some of the deaths of the original crew were fake to protect the guilty. I see it as a Coen brothers film taking place partly in Turkey and Hungry. You could really reshape the original script in many intricate ways to fit a different scenario than the one that was openly presented.

Well, both are action movie STARS, famous, but not for being good actors, just for the characters they played (Rambo, Rocky...). Same with the probably most famous action movie star ever, Arnie. I love Arnold and I like most of his movies, some of his movies as well as the characters he played earned their place in movie history. But did he get an Oscar for his acting? Did he deserve one? Imo no! He was just good (or lucky) at picking roles early in his career (Conan, Terminator...), roles in movies that were awesome, got well known and had a very recognizable main character. And that's actually the power of movie stars, people recognize em, people grown to like em. You don't have to be a good actor to get famous, to get a star, as long as the movies are good and the roles you play don't demand good acting. I mean some of this recognizable iconic figures aren't even persons, they are just a costume (think... Darth Vader) or not even human (CGI or animatronic characters).

Or, to put it short:
To me, pointing out that Transformers 2 was better than Transformers 1 is like saying "A not so good actor is a better actor than a slightly less good actor" :3

Or, even shorter:
Imo all Transformer movies were kinda meh ^^;

Waaat?  Why no love for the Muscles from Brussels?   :p

To be fair, I think that Sly takes the lead in the race for better action movie actor, if only by a really steroid-enlarged neck.

I think Sylvester Stallone gets the nod over either Ahnold or VanDamage; Stallone wrote the screenplay for Rocky, as well as starring in it.  And won an Oscar for it.

Enough trivia!  I want another Firefly movie, dammit!

Small nitpick: He was nominated for "Best Actor in a Leading Role" and "Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen" but did NOT WIN!
But yeah, I think Sly's performance in Rocky (also in the sequels) was kinda good, but was it great or exceptional? And in later movies?
Anyway, it's just my personal opinion and I wanted to point out the difference between being a star and being a good actor...

Actually I want to see some sort of Gladiator prequel or something since both the antagonist and protagonist are dead.

How about Cloverfield. I loved that movie.

No sequel, nokia phones sold to microsoft

I can see it now
everyone in the movie is trying to take crappy phone videos of the monster aka blair witch style

They used a video cam. Anyway i enjoyed the movie and thought it was actually really cool. Sad to hear if some had problems with it.

I normally don't like sequels. In my opinion the mostly mediocre with some exceptions but mostly they do suck (IMO).

The one that I would love to see done would be to finish the series for Repo! The Genetic Opera.  Not Repo Men.  I thought that movie was terribad compared to the opera.  If you guys haven't seen it you need to check it out.  Might be a little tough to find though.

The movie that was made is actually the middle chunk from the story so both a prequel and a sequel are viable.
