Title: Movie keyboard sounds
Post by: CX23882 on Sat, 29 November 2008, 20:05:43
I was just watching the movie Ghost, and it can only be the the geek in me that appreciates the keyboard sound of the IBM PC-AT keyboards in the scene when Carl realises the account has been closed.

Does anyone know whether the PC-AT keyboard sounds like or if it's possible they used a different keyboard for the sounds.  I have a couple of Model M (a Greenock-produced model and a Unicomp) and they sound very different.

The Model F sounds basically like a Model M... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftM3OdZ_obY

It's still buckling spring, it's just different underneath the buckling spring units. (Capacitive switches like what's at the bottom of a Topre, instead of a membrane sheet.)

Movie reuse soundbites like that hundreds of times. That's why half of them sound like Model Ms and the other half sound those crappy Dells.
