I dont know what it is. I loved the blue cherries for a good 2 weeks, but today I found myself actually pulling out a dell quietkey just for the increased resistance. Either I'm too used to it from decades of typing on membranes, or in my imagination thats how buckling springs were. I dont know what it is but every switch I've tried so far, even when I've initially liked them, I've found myself wanting higher resistance after a while. (And yet the black MX were definitely too much resistance). So somewhere in between the blues and blacks I guess.
So I just ordered an alps board and my buckling spring should be here by tomorrow. I'll have a chance to try those out at length and compare with blue cherries which are my current fav. If they have more resistance I might leave blue cherries too, who knows. The search continues...

Alps definitely feel like they have more resistence even their peak resistance is less. I guess in some ways it feels more invigorating to toil your way through typing and feeling more powerful hehe.

that might actually have something to do with it. I think I feel more "focused" mentally when I have to toil just a little bit. It keeps me awake? ;)

you migh also like cherry mx and ml blacks then. But I think alps or BS is probably best for you. Alps do sound less high pitched which i prefer but also sound less harsh than blue cherrys

Says they clack rather than click. She's not keen on the cherry switches, too high pitched apparently. She's trying to sleep so I wont type too much ;)

I've noticed when I feel tired I prefer typing on the G84-4100. I think it does wake me up a little to type on slightly stiffer switches, and the small size helps me feel focused.
If I'm too tired the liveliness of the ML switches start to irritate me and the comparatively passive brown MX feel better. If my fingers feel tired I prefer the brown MX. Occasionally I want my keys to click. It reminds me of shoes. :lol: I feel more confident and alert in heels but sometimes I'm too tired for them and the clack clack can annoy me.

Its nice to be able to swap boards based on mood. I'm finding that in the mornings (when I have more energy and am trying to get focused) I like keys with more resistance and in the late evenings (when I'm pooped out) I once again went back to the lighter keys of the M10.
I originally thought I wanted to find "The One Keyboard" for me ;) but in the end maybe I'll wind up with at least 2 regular boards. So much for monogamy.
Even I have 4 pairs of shoes, after all ;)

I have two pairs of shoes that aren't worn out, and one of them might get donated to Goodwill or something. Or tossed on Craigslist, because I'm cheap enough to not give stuff away. :p

I did too, probably because I used the same rubber dome for years quite happily. I don't really think of myself as a collector, but I do see myself having a few different keyboards to suit my moods.
