Title: Help with ITX Gaming Build
Post by: mr. rampage on Fri, 13 September 2013, 10:36:18
Hello,

So I bought an NCase and now need to plan an ITX Gaming build. Since the case won't start shipping until January, I don't expect to build until March. I'm not so up-to-date on what's going to be available in Q1 next year (i.e. will DDR4 be available?), but here's the build so far. I'd like advice on what to improve in terms of performance to budget. My budget so far is about $2k, but I'd like to get it to around $1.5k.

Here's the parts list (http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/1DgAB). Any advice is greatly appreciated.

FYI, I won't need any sound support as I use an external USB DAC.

Your configuration looks very solid. If you're looking to eek out noticeably better performance, then plunk down for a higher class GPU (make sure it fits inside your case).

Looks pretty good; those new 7-Series GPU's seem really nice.

My brother in law just installed two 770's in his insanely powerful computer (32 gigs of ram & Intel Core i7-3930K, lol) and now it's even more efficient and runs even cooler.

Wait until you are ready to build to start buying or even planning.
What you have listed looks good, but the best deals change from week to week, new parts come out monthly. Telling you what to get months from now, just won't be accurate.

Personally i would not go with Haswel,

i run 2 systems,

i7 2600k, sahhpire 7970 3GB, asrock b75 itx all in my custom watercooled loop.
i5 3570k, 3GB 580, maximus v gene MATX,

So personally i do love my Sandybridge, nice temps, good clocking,
Haswell does not overclock as well and also gets VERY hot, even when watercooled!

Same with above, the 770M and 780M are very far past the league of the 760M, so I would recommend one of those. Having the 675M and being unable to play Mirror's Edge at top settings, I shall regret it later. Didn't really have the money for a better one, though.
