I just found this switch set with a plate mount on ebay that has switches I can't really identify. They look cherry but none of the images posted show the full stem.

Anyone have any clue what these are?

I believe they are called M7 they are fake Chinese switches.
MX switches will fit the plate.

M7's are real Cherry switches, however I think these are knockoff M7's.

It's an M7 board. My tester (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=44312.msg989199#msg989199) is the same thing. Use that M7 "board" you linked, which uses that plate, and then sit MX switches into it. It was made by cgbuen.

So will those switches/keycaps fit with authentic cherry equipment? It also seems like these products could be good for DIY stuff.

Keycaps perhaps, switches no. Well, you could perhaps use them on replacement part M9 keyboards, but otherwise the pins are not in the same position as others. They are M9 clones then I suppose as they have the same position of pins. They certainly are clones though as they have a round slider with a Cherry compatible looking keycap mount.

Those switches are also a lot taller than the MX switches, so they wont fit one way or another.
