Title: What's a good way to get Topre switches, mostly 35g with a few 30g and 45g?
Post by: cool-RR on Sat, 14 September 2013, 07:16:28
Hi everybody!

I'm still a newbie to keyboard-building. I read about Topre switches and fell in love with the low actuation they promise.

I'd like to get my hands on some of them. I understand that they're not sold individually :(

This really sucks. I'm assuming the only ways to get them are either buying a keyboard or buying used. (By the way, what does "cc" mean in the classifieds forum?)

I want mostly the 35g ones, but with some 30g and 45g thrown in.

How would you recommend getting them? Is there a keyboard models that you'd recommend buying for harvesting these keys?

Thanks,
Ram.

From what I know there are no 35g topre. There are however universal 30g and 45g, there are also variable spring weighted topre. The only thing you can to get switches is to salvage them from an existing board.

From my understanding it would be hard to build a custom topre board because of the capacitive pcb, so you could maybe buy a board and switch out the domes as you want them.
