Just wondering two quick things, are there any sites that produce keys that have a more rubber, solid feel? Most keyboard keys have a hollow plastic feel to them....
Also, does anyone make metal key caps?
-
To be clear, I'm looking for a normal, full set, not novelty keys.
-
IIRC sets of aluminium and titanium caps exist, but they're incredibly expensive. There are also zinc sets which are a little more reasonably priced.
-
Alu/Titanium caps run upwards of $300 from the OEM.
I've seen titanium sets go for over $1000, and it was just the alphas.
Never seen a full set of rubber caps.

Try thick PBT or GMK doubleshots. They are much thicker than SP DCS keys.

Thick PBTs are a great choice if you're looking for something with lesser of that hollow feel/sound.

and you've seen one go for $1000?

I've never seen a titanium set, only an aluminum alpha set commonly refereed to as the "scarface set". I think they went for $300 from the guy himself, but some have paid $500+ IIRC
Also, I've never seen an aluminum set from an OEM for $300. If you have a link to either set, that would be nice

I thought those were Zinc?

I did get one rubber key in my SP crap bag, it was an F. Because it is doubleshot, the top is quite firm and flat, but the stem and sides are very flexible. No clue if its a special or if they do a full set somewhere, perhaps it is done as a marker for F and J only . It is quite a bit quieter than conventional keys.

In your opinion, would a full key set work out well or have any downside?

I can't find it again (which is really annoying), but I've certainly seen it. Someone @ reddit had one a while back.

I think a full set would work very well if you can source them, just no clue if Signature Plastics sell them as a set, or ever did. It is white on dark grey. It fits MX perfectly, but the stem has the look of the set they do for slightly bigger + stems so it may be for those. Mostly I was letting you know that such a thing does exist, it may be an impossible mission to find though:)

This is the only time I am going to say this, rubber over cherry mx :p

Signature Plastics has some. Very limited though. If you click the link and scroll to the bottom, it's the second one up on the left side.

Ah, well found, shame its just the F, J and mods. I guess mine was in the crap bag because it didn't have the homing line on it.

Thanks for all the help with this, it at least points me down some interesting avenues for my upcoming project. (Insert Maniacal Laughter).
