FWIW, I tried to buy this from him earlier. He was unwilling to ship out of the EU and didn't understand proxies. He also wanted, at the time, a Filco Majestouch 104 key with MX Browns so he's looking for about $150.
-
Ah unfortunate then:(
-
What's so hard to understand about proxies?
"Here is $150, send to this address"
You don't even need to tell him about the proxy, really. That's all your business.
-
Don't have a clue. He didn't seem to want to work with me that much.

Probably because you're a 'yank' :D
-
Hell, if he doesn't want to sell it. I guess he doesn't have to sell it.
Curious why he's trying so hard to sell something he's trying so hard not to sell.
-
Have you ever seen all those "CONUS only" sells?
-
Oh god, I would totally get this if I had the money, but my wallet is empty atm.

Good point.
Internation shipping in the USA is easy. All you do is fill out a customs form. Takes like five minutes. The hardest part is finding a competent postal service employee that understands international shipping.

I do all of mine online, removes the postal worker from the equation.

I would do that if I had some of those cool clear plastic slips that hold the customs paper.

On USPS.com you just print out one piece of paper, tape it to the package, there is no need for anything else. At least that's how mine come out. I've sent quite a few things now all over the world!!
-
He's most likely looking to get AT LEAST as much as he paid for it. He knows that it's discontinued and thus rare, so I'm certain he's not letting it go for a reasonable price.
-
But I love those clear plastic slips! I only want those, no substitutes!

Frankly, I don't see the appeal.
I understand the XMs are among the least loved flavours of White Alps.
If you want to do a switch swap, may as well start with a 1087XM which is probably cheaper and easier to find.
-
Their only expensive because of its rarity, and nothing about its typing feel relates to the price people are giving. It clunky, stiff, and not that fast, but the reason I haven't sold mine is that I find it amusing that I have a keyboard which not even big notable keyboard personality have obtained.

I had an opportunity to try the XM's in Tipo's Filco Zero at the 2nd Chicago get together. I went in anticipating a strong negative reaction due to the hate they have acquired on the message boards; But I actually liked them very much and wondered what all the hate was all for.
Would I swap them for something else? Probably - not because the XM's suck - only because the Apple ][ GS SMK's are [IMHO] the one true Alps switch.

You can swap those switches for another flavor of Alps, but the important part is the modern TKL form factor / layout and Filco PCB and build quality. You can't find another TKL keyboard with Alps other than by going via a Custom route (very expensive). Ducky had a TKL version with Alps, but iw was of pretty shoddy quality all around.
-
The 1087XM is one of the lowest quality boards I've ever tried. With the Filco Zero, you get everything good about the Filco (good case, PCB, plate, ability to put an HID liberator in it, Modern TKL layout) and the ability to swap it to say Salmon, Cream, or Matias Clicky Alps. *That's* why I want one. Not because it's rare.
I bought a 1087XM because I couldn't find a Zero. Everything but the PCB was garbage and the PCB was so-so.

Oh my gosh thanks, my life is complete. Nothing is missing now.

Hi, a friend just linked me this thread.
First off, Cptbadass, please stop raining at my parade.
This is the PM I sent you, I think I've explained my situation very well to you:
<<REDACTED>>
MODERATION NOTE: PLEASE DON'T POST PMs.
You posted a "I would like to buy" to a "Want to trade" thread.
That being said, I am of course accepting offers, I'm looking for about 100-120 EUR + shipping to the country of your choice.
Thanks for reading.
-
You're correct that I PMed you for a buy when you wanted a trade. You're right, I apologize for that.
But it still stands that you didn't know what a proxy is and didn't really want to ship to CONUS right? I fail to see how posting the truth is raining on your parade.
And I know its your portion of the PM but I'm uncomfortable that you just openly post PMs.
-
I'm not going to get sucked into a discussion with you.
If I had known you'd post about me in such a clear derogatory tone about me, I'd never have taken the time to draft that PM.
PS: Feeling uncomfortable is one of the most basic human rights.
-
Um. Ok. I didn't realize this was derogatory but I'm sorry if that was the case. Have a nice day.

Welcome Fireglow. It's a shame that it was comments that you perceived as negative that brought you into the thread to discuss your sale, but clearly there is some interest in discussing the keyboard. In other words, I hope you'll stay and participate so that we can all learn more. :)
We all know how expensive and frustrating it is to ship internationally, but are you willing to ship to the US since the buyer is paying for the shipping?
