Title: Need help identifying these key caps please...
Post by: gray on Wed, 18 September 2013, 17:15:36
Hi everyone,

First post here, and I realize this isn't the "New Members" section so I'll keep the intro short.  Been lurking the forum for a little while, and as a result I've picked up 3 mechanical keyboards over the past 2 weeks!!   1st was the Black Widow Ultimate (Mx Blue's), felt nice to type on but a bit to click-clacky for me and the people around me...Returned.  2nd was the Steelseries 6gv2 (MX Black's), loved the smooth feel, but too stiff...Returned.  Finally I picked up a Filco Majestouch 2 Tenkeyless Ninja (MX Red's), love the feel of the red switches, exactly what I needed.

So, I came across this old article: http://www.vanillatf2.org/2011/07/hardware-filco-majestouch-review/ (http://www.vanillatf2.org/2011/07/hardware-filco-majestouch-review/)

I absolutely love the style of the key caps in the first picture:

Does anyone know where I could find these caps or ones just like them?... I really like the large, sort of vintage look of the font style.  I believe they are "Double-Shots" (ABS?).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys!   :thumb:

Those caps are from R3 (or R4, R3 Style)... Keep you eyes on the classifieds as R4 has been shipped.

The R3 and R4 refers to the rounds that this has been done. It's a Dolch replica; R3 and R4.

these are really hard to find. i looked for about 6 months before TEAM REDLINE started a DSA Dolch group buy.  You have a much better chance of getting one of the DSA Dolch sets than you do of getting a R3 or R4 set. At least that is my experience.

The font on your group buy looks different compared to the dolch.

It's different than those caps that were the round#whatever since those were made at SP. My buy with GMK uses the original Cherry tooling which is what the real Dolch used, so actually mine is identical to real Dolch since they are made with the same thing.

Yes 7bits keys don't match the Dolch font, just the color.  However Ivan's new GB doesn't match the Dolch color.  His is darker.
