Title: Rebranded Model M 122 Key
Post by: Alessandro on Fri, 20 September 2013, 08:47:27
Not so much a great find as it's relatively poor value. But hey, it's in good condition and seemed interesting enough. :)

F 122s will always:

1. Have same color F keys
2. Have stepped modifiers
3. Have a big IBM silver label
4. Have big edges
5. Have a black colored metal rear case
6. Have a label on said metal back that will actually say "Model F"

Note that there are select old (and uncommon) 122 Ms that meet 1-4, but not 5-6. So it's quite hard to confuse the two unless all one has are blurry pics of the top or something.

Oh, that's one of the BOSCOM Model M's. I remember those popping up a few years ago. I don't recall if they have buckling springs or just rubber domes though.

This *claims* to be an IBM manufactured board for the XT. I don't see any IBM brand on front or on label, and the corners are weird. The picture angles are bad too, so you can't make out the keys very well. It looks like the the plate isn't curved, and the keys seem to have profiles (but hard to say). And there is A LOT of yellowing. Google didn't raise anything on the part number except other references to this auction.

Anybody know what this actually is?

Definitely not IBM. This is 99% likely an NMB board with space invader switches.

I wish it wasn't so expensive. I'm interested in the caps if someone wants to get the board.

The BOS is from the Lexmark IBM M era.
