I have decided to see if there is sufficient interest in my "stealth" F-122 to make me want to part with it.

This will be a hybrid auction/sale whatever, but not run the way ebay does it. It is an auction with a starting bid of $200 which includes the keyboard as shown with internally mounted Teensy, charcoal gray top case shell, and domestic US shipping. If I do not get any bids, I may or may not keep it or put it up on ebay. That remains to be seen.
I will set an end time of next Sunday, September 29, at 7:30 pm, my time (Eastern), so that you can watch "Once Upon a Time" or "Breaking Bad" or whatever you like to do on Sunday nights.
It might be better and more private if you PM me.
In the thread there is discussion of a carrying handle on the back, which I will add for $10 if you want it. Also, for another $10, I will do a "floss mod" if you want that. I make it an option since I would guess that many, if not most bidders, would not want either.
When and if I get a bid of $265, the sale is over and that person wins. If that person wants a handle and/or a floss mod, there will be no extra charge as long as payment is made promptly.
Please pay me quickly if you win, or I will move on to the 2nd highest bidder. Thanks.
PS - I really don't want to get into international shipping, but if someone really wants it, you will plan to add an additional $62 to whatever your stated bid amount is. For example, if you bid $210 you will owe me $272 if it has to go international.
PPS - I have a set of red keys (RIT dyed) including spacebar, and also a black spacebar and some blank black keys, I would trade those out for the current pebble and pearl at no cost, if you wanted.
-
I should have stated that this will be a Vickery style auction in $5 increments, so the winner will pay $5 more than the 2nd highest bid.
-
good luck! You are a true inspiration to me - albeit I have yet to be successful in fixing even one F XT, let alone tackling the F122s!

It occurs to me that this item would be more desirable with the option for a more normal case, if the owner wanted it for a change.
The "stealth" modification removed the back portion where the attachment screws were located, so I improvised a new way to attach a top shell.
I added a round screw eye at the back center area, and the center bolt can go through it into its socket. Clearly, the attachment is not nearly as strong as the original, even less so because there is only one bolt instead of 3, but the top shell does not really do anything on these keyboards, anyway.
Please accept that this is strictly a "jury-rig" solution and is not intended to re-create the strength of the original attachment, so please do not subject the case shell to any undue stress when it is attached. It will not be warranted, ha ha.
I will ship the gray shell loose in the same box, along with the bolt and washer. You can attach it if you want, but it would be vulnerable in transit.

Another change to my procedure - I will not post bid amounts.
Previously, I stated that I would periodically update the bids I had received.
Now, I realize that this might make potential buyers feel that an early bid would fuel a bidding contest.
Therefore, all bids will be secret and I will only reveal the winner at the end. If the winning bidder asks me to not reveal what the winning number was, I will respect that, too.
In the case of a tie, the earlier bid wins, so go ahead and bid via PM without fear that your bid will influence the final price.
PS - that "Buy It Now" offer still stands.

Bump my own thread for visibility.
This will end in a few hours. Somebody buy it now and stop worrying about it.
-
Are there bids on it right now?

several inquiries but no firm bids

fohat, if it doesn't sell, don't be discouraged. There's a difference between value, and what people are able to pay for something. I can't pay you $262, simple as that, so I am not bidding.
I have never understood how someone could pay $450 for a Kmac or some of these fancy Korean keyboards. How much are they getting paid in their day jobs? I mean, something may have fantastic quality and be worth a lot, but it doesn't mean you have to buy it. A 10,000hp racing car made of pure gold is also worth a lot and we all agree, but not many people will be coughing up the money to buy it.
That said, I strongly believe that for $200 minimum bid with US shipping, your modded Model F is far better value than any Ergo-whatever or Kmac or Gon tuned whatever. You're selling a Rolls Royce at Cadillac prices. That's just my opinion. But I hope someone out there shares my opinion and has the funds to give you a good bid that respects your hard work.
I want the Model F, but my budget is really not sufficient to offer a bid of an appropriate amount. Good luck!

For what it's worth, if I did not just buy a F122 and a new mattress, I would be all over this deal. These are some of the greatest boards ever made.
-
A new mattress is a good thing to invest in. Sleep is important.
Somebody throw some offers at me.
-
some people spend 40-60k on a mattress, would you believe that? That's some serious investment.
fohat, list on ebay at $300 BIN. I think it will sell. (They charge 9% so you need to factor that into $262 as well.)

I would get if I didn't already have one. Good luck with your sale Fohat. Ebay is going crazy with their % of the sale.
-
So you gonna take another stab at selling this thing? People are missing out.

The "interest" in it was all talk and no $

That's pretty par for the course. Don't take it personally.
