Title: Looking for Laser cutter
Post by: Melvang on Wed, 25 September 2013, 08:37:50
I have a pretty tall order that I am having issues finding.  I need to find a shop that can laser cut 1/4" 300 series stainless steel.  If anyone works at, or knows of a shop that can do this and doesn't mind doing smaller one off projects please pass the work along.  The only place I have available locally that can do it basically told me to get lost cause I only wanted one piece done.

It isn't in the US but I used this place before.. They have good prices for 1-offs and work fast.

even if geeckers bought a cutter we couldn't get the kw+ laser needed for this. that's what the_beast's guy is for (or IMS if we can get sufficient volume for a 6 axis)

Yup, I need a DWG or DXF with exactly what you want cut and cash monies. Any mistakes are yours (since I've sent close to 1000 plates to this guy and only had maybe one that was slightly miss cut, but still useable) Lead times can be any where from 3 days to 2 weeks and add another week for me to ship (since I'm not home, I have to have someone else ship for me)

By the way kawa, he just bough a second laser cutter so now he has 2 4000 watt cutters!

ss 316 16ga, 2 panels per side with 1/4" 30 OO sorbothane worked well with the sides, but the front and back are a larger and have these big open spaces.. considering thicker SS and more sorbothane to make up for the big open acrylic window on the front.

weight is actually a huge benefit for these panels, since increasing mass lowers the resonant frequency and amplitude for the entire assembly.

agreed.

Update on my laser cutting needs.  I am going to pass on the 1/4" ss plate and just go with my other idea that I would be willing to bet will work just as well for this and will most likely be cheaper and TONS easier to have manufactured to the Cherry hole specs.
