So I really like the feel of Blues, and their pressure, and I don't need them to be lower at all. But I wonder, has anyone tried putting in lighter springs (MX Red or non-Cherry) into blues, and how did it feel? I can imagine something being really light and tactile, which I might like. Any experience with modded blues? There are always ghetto greens (already have greens), but it seems like there's very little modding done to Blues.

Blues and reds have same spring. But there are some softer spring (customs) like 55g

If I am not drastically mistaken, the Blue uses 50g and the Red uses 45g, both of which are softer than 55g.
-
Theyre the same spring. The stem in the Blue switch is two parts and causes the Blue switch to have a slightly heavier actuation.
-
Ah, I see then. Would the function of the stem cause a lighter spring to not have much of an effect, or have there been experiments with this?

Korean custom spring weight is measured at bottom out rather than at actuation like Cherry springs, so 55g Korean springs are ever so slightly lighter than MX Blue/Brown/Red springs.

To me it feels like lighter springs lessen the tactility and the click of MX Blues.

Hrm, I'm so uninformed. I was thinking that because the Greens have as much tactility (or only a bit more) than Blues, that a lighter spring would retain it. If it doesn't then that would invalidate why I was thinking of it. Thanks for the info everyone!

Green and blues have the same stem and slider. The spring is what makes it different.

The spring force is responsible for the click, and slightly for the tactility.

Incorrect. The slider is forced down by one of the contact leaves. You can get the click without a spring inside the switch.

I can confirm spring is not needed for a click.

this thread hurts my head q-q
i love you all

I'm trying to figure out why lighter springs would make the click any less noticeable, because it doesn't seem like springs should have anything to do with the click, but I am certain that they do one way or another.
Does the amount of resistance from the spring end up forcing the leaf in the switch down harder? I am totally guessing at this point.

I belive that they are the same weight. Get panda blues, blue stems with black springs

blue stems with black springs are ghetto greens :P

I have a set of 45g springs on the way from Originative, was thinking about swapping it into my browns since I prefer lighter switches.
will also try it on some blue switches

That's awfully close to the OEM spring, isn't it? Hardly seems worth it.

Wow, I'm sure he didn't realize that. Thanks!
OT: Of course it makes a difference, it's just minor and seems hardly worth swapping an entire switch out for.

meh I recently swapped 55g into my Brown.
the difference is not noticeable. 55g is slightly heavier
hence the reason of buying 45g springs.
