Hi guys.
I got myself a Filco MJ2 with blue switches and some stronger spings.
Wanted to install them, watched a lot of tutorials http://deskthority.net/workshop-f7/how-to-open-a-non-mounted-cherry-mx-switch-t2130.html#p40927 (http://deskthority.net/workshop-f7/how-to-open-a-non-mounted-cherry-mx-switch-t2130.html#p40927)
I use a 90° bend tweezer. I can't find a spot in these four holes, where i could "sink" them in, in order to push the "grappling hooks".
I have also tried much thinner steel needles. It feels like there is no mechanism in there.
Am I missing something here?

Did you desolder the switch?
-
oh no!
I think i just figured out the difference between PCB and Plate mount switches
This sucks.
But I will do it.
Thank You.

You may want to lurk around here for a while before you attempt a mod like that. Would be a shame to destroy a nice Filco!
-
Yeap, gotta be careful with the mods you're gonna do before hand especially since those filcos dont come cheap :( The only way you could open those plate mounted switches without desoldering is if you have a custom plate such as the UTKL or Phantom Plates with the little notches by the sides of each cutout. PCB mounted switches will not be a problem though. GL!

But to install this plate on a filco, you will need to desolder everything in the first place, so be cautious if you decide to try it!

Wow, it took me like 3 hours to change the springs.
Don`t do much soldering.
One switch didn't make it, but had destroyed that one earlier, when I tried to pry it off the top.
Use it for Pause now.
Who the hell presses Pause anyway?
I have to say, I really like the feeling now.
The 80g springs do thier job, I rarely buttom out, feels firm and strong.
Really nice.
Good keyboard.

Ouch tho. If that was my board, I'd be heartache :/

you gotta break a lot of eggs when you learn to make omelets!
and only one switch? not too bad, you can replace it pretty easily, it's only a mx switch.
in my experience engineering and modding **** I find breaking something is the easiest way to get the personal experience on how to NOT break it again
