Been thinking about adding either of these TKL boards. I like the backlighting of the Shine but the QFR would be cheaper. Any feedback as to which is better assuming both have the same switches?
-
If you can still get a Shine 2 - most stores sold out of that model since the Shine 3 has arrived.
Either is fine - I have both (actually I have Shine 1, but anyway).
I used to say Ducky Shine if you want backlighting, QFR if not.
-
I originally wanted a Shine 2 because of the backlighting, but then I was shown the truth about how pointless backlighting is. QFR all the way.

A shine 3 TKL is upon the horizon. :D

What does the Shine 3 have that the 2 does not?

Ducky Shine II is a better board in my opinion. I've tried a QFR and I've owned 2 Ducky Shine IIs. It feels more "solid", has a better quality neater PCB, backlight (which you can turn off if you don't like it). Subjectively, I also much prefer Shine caps to stock ABS QFR caps.
Shine III doesn't really have anything functionally superior to Shine II: mostly just more backlight modes and RGB backlight in the spacebar.

More backlight modes, different stabilisers (has anyone actually been able to confirm this?), upgradable firmware.
Space bar.

I don't know if it's my recent switch to browns the stabilizer feels stiffer than my K90 with reds so I don't really have anything to compare to...
