Title: Does this look fishy to you?
Post by: Fragil1ty on Sat, 05 October 2013, 16:09:37
I've wanted a replacement for my Noppoo choc mini mx red for a long time now and I've got a little bit of spare money coming my way and as this is located in England I can get it before my Keycool 84 mx red comes to me etc.

But anyway, here's the link:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mechanical-Keyboard-Noppoo-Choc-Mini-Mx-Red-Pom-Keycaps-/190918774112?pt=UK_Computing_ComputerComponents_KeyboardsMice&hash=item2c73a54d60

It just looks fishy to me for a lot of reasons, I'll list them here:

- He's charging £84.99 for a keyboard that is usually around £70 (including shipping).
- It is second hand and he's still selling it for the price stated above.
- I have a noppoo and I can tell you from past experience that the lettering fades rather quickly.
- Both of the images used are not his own, the second image is a image taken directly from Google.

What do you guys think? is this guy legit and just over-estimating his pricing or is this sale a bit on the fishy side? I don't want to spend £84.99 on a keyboard for it to come all wore and torn because he hasn't put his own images up and what not.

I never buy used things from ebay unless they upload their own images as a rule.  You could try contacting him and ask him to upload some.  If he does not I would simply move on.  It may feel bad but it's not worth the risk if you ask me.

They appear to have lowered it to  £49.99 +  £3 shipping.. They also have 100% feedback but only 66. However, they will not accept returns. =/ Maybe shoot them a question via ebay asking for more information, and maybe some pics to see how they respond.

You sure the second picture is not his own?  I can't find it anywhere else.  Other than that, it seems legit.  eBay will refund you if the item isn't as described and you open a case with them.

I believe that is because another user has put a bid on the item, thus taking it away from BIN and enforced it to be a bidding item.

I sure am, here is the picture that you are able to find on Google. And also, if he's had it 'for a few months' as is stated in his description, it will not look like that, that image is of a brand new Noppoo.

I mean personally, I hope it to be a good quality keyboard, not too much wear and tear as I'd love to bid for it and win it. I've sent the guy/girl an e-mail and hoping to hear back as soon as possible.

May be the guy's own pic.  Why don't you ask the poster if he's the one selling it on eBay, then contact eBay about it if he isn't.

I can guarantee it's not the guys keyboard as the guy that the picture belongs to is from the states! But I shall do that asap, time shall see.

The bidding ends in 20 hours or so, so.. I think the likely hood is very low but hey! be worth it if he does! Although deals like this? bidding wars? they attract so many people, it's insane.

I wouldn't even buy a choc mini again even if it was that cheap. The bouncing issue with that keyboard is horrible.

Very, very true. :/

Do you know of a similar keyboard layout that is better constructed? same size as the Noppoo?

I'm looking at the KBT Pro II, and the Poker II but, the Poker doesn't have arrow keys and I need arrow keys. I'd even settle for a keyboard that was tenkeyless as long as it looks 'okay' and what not.

I think the KeyCool 84 is the same size. I don't have any experience with that board though, so I can't recommend it on any personal opinion.

Mx-mini would be the next step after that. I'm not really paying a lot of attention in the keyboard game lately, therefore I might be completely wrong ;).

Edit: Looks like KeyCool also has a backlit keyboard that they call 87 and 84 over at mechanical. No idea why that is, but there are plenty of KeyCool products in that size.

MX-Mini is your best bet right now.  GON has them and there is an upcoming LZ MX GH buy.

I really doubt thats his own image to begin with, I think its really sketchy. I tend to not buy used things online and only buy used items in person. Unless its through a person that has extensive knowledge in the background of the item and is willing to show me every aspect of the keyboard.

I've already got a Keycool 84 - Grey /w Blacks but obviously I want Reds or Browns so that's what I'm looking to buy, I'll just see what crops up, looking to get a good deal somewhere.

I can't seem to find them anywhere, who or what is GON?
