Title: Poker 2 spacebar compatibility
Post by: skuko on Tue, 08 October 2013, 03:41:30
hey all,

i'm fairly sure someone has asked this already, but i didn't find it....

i'm curious about the 60% boards now and keen on getting a poker, but i need to know whether it has standard caps, especially the spacebar.

will i.e. filco caps fit it? i mean both length and stem-wise.

i'm mostly concerned about the SA profile calm depths GB, which i'm a part of :)

thanks

Yep, the Poker has a 'standard' 6.25x spacebar so those GB sets will fit.

Not true

Cherry spacebars, caps locks, and right shifts might not work with the poker. The spacebar since the stem layout, the caps lock since it's not center stemmed and the shift if they are the G80-1800 sized shift

well, i guess the question should be

"if the spacebar fits a filco, will it fit a poker 2?"

I don't consider those Cherry keycaps "standard" keycaps, since I think they only fit Cherrys.

that's one of the beauty of poker boards, standard layout for custom caps  :thumb:

hmm, now i have a different question. i'm kinda curious as to how it would be possible to simulate the arrow cluster on a poker apart from the obvious FN layer. i started playing some older DOS games (namely flashback, oh the nostalgia!), which don't offer the possibility to remap keys. could i program my arrow cluster to some other keys, i.e. PL;'  ?

to be exact, flashback uses the arrow keys, shift, tab and enter, afaik.

You can program the arrow keys to be elsewhere. Problem is you have to be holding the Pn key in order to do it. This is one of the reasons why I got rid of my Poker. I just could not get used to the layout. I moved to a QFR and am enjoying it much more.

You don't technically have to be holding the PN key. You can put it into program lock mode by pressing FN+Right Shift. You could program OKL; as arrow keys and then switch to the program layer when playing those kinds of games.

Very true. It's useful as a temporary measure for those situations.
