Currently I'm working with someone on spartansupper ( https://twitter.com/SpartanSupper ) to generate a 3-4 ingredient food list that pretty much does the same thing: minimalist ingredients with complete nutrition.

I've been doing 8 meals a week for about three weeks. I like it.
I'm following the hacker school recipe. More or less. The first week I misunderstood the recipe and put in 85g of olive oil in each meal. Which translates to ~3900kcal a day. I did not loose any weight that week, quite the opposite :)

I'm assuming this is being done for fun more than anything, but it's worth pointing out that there's major issues with this (and official Soylent is even worse).

Multivitamins are poor substitutes for fruit and vegetables. Micronutrients often work better synergistically in their natural forms than manufactured alternatives, and there are hundreds/thousands of phytochemicals in everyday foods, more of which are being identified as having an important effect on wellbeing, that won't be included in a multivitamin.

Soy protein alone has a crappy amino acid profile.

You're not going to get sufficient quantity of the optimum range of fatty acids based on those fat sources.

Yeah this is mostly for fun, I realize this can't be compared to a real food diet which is why I don't plan on eating only this for every meal, mostly only breakfast/lunch.

Hell... can't be much worse than my current diet... I very-much doubt I'm getting complete nutrition with it, either! :)

work faster. that seems interesting.

As for soylent progress, it's Day 3. Day 1 was pretty good, Day 2 I added 5x more salt than required (don't sleep and soylent) so I trashed the batch, and now with Day 3 I've decided to just make a soylent lunch.

Sometime soon I'm going to try and bake it...

I've attempted to do this, and I looked deeply into the issue..

There are 2 major problems unaddressed by the medical (nutrition) community:

1.

we don't know "for sure" that man-made supplements can be absorb as well as naturally occurring ones.

2.

The Recommended Daily Allowance is based on minimum necessity to prevent pathological deficiency...

Now, really think about how imprecise a number based on that would be.. and how LARGE the deviation would be between all the variety of people, in size, race, habits (physical labor, mental labor)

For example, lets consider corner cases, foot-soldier vs a scientist... The brain consumes different things than muscle.. so something that a soldier would absolutely require, may even be toxic to the scientist, because their bodies are not tuned to process equivalent doses of certain chemicals.


To make something such as Soylent... is a bit of a dream based on the possibility of establishing an "IDEAL"...

No such ideal exists due to variance... 

And the "current" scientific guidelines are very very rough....


I do my own system of soylent, more so to save time rather than produce "ideal nutrition" which I don't think is possible.


Each time I go to the grocery store..   I pick 10 random vegetables or fruits, or a mix of both...

I throw them all in a pot,  add some potatoes for the starch, and boil till soft.


I can make 2 weeks worth at 1 time.. takes about 5 hours...

there's no point in reading reviews.

This is something you have to try for yourself..  No review would be useful...

Example:  Everyone says gatorade is boss..

Cousin drinks gatorade...   explosive rear exhaust...  Turns out many people are allergic to the lab-salts they use as (electrolytes)...

Bake: cook (food) by dry heat without direct exposure to a flame, typically in an oven or on a hot surface.
