What is your favorite thing about your favorite board. Limit your answer to only one factor about your favorite board.... Harder than it may seem.
THE RULES:
Only one....
1. Don't hate- this is not a springboard to judge, troll, be mean spirited to other people's finger preferences.
This is a place where MX, buckling spring, topre, and ALPS lovers can unite and speak their peace on why they love the board with the least amount of dust in their collection.
Mine: HHKB Pro 2 white/gray non-printed.....
Reason: Such a unique, impossible to describe combination of sound and feel.... It's not that it feels so much better than my BS or MX... just so pleasantly different.
I hope this thread doesn't get tooooo off topic. Let's keep it light, keep it friendly or else
-
ErgoDox... because layout, do I need to say more?
-
HHKB layout
DS2 clears
-
Filco Majestouch-2 TKL - love its height/profile without feet raised
-
Leopold fc700r Graphite.
Clean but not self-indulgent
-
Anything Filco because Filco.
-
HHKB the layout is great. I also like the white keyboard but i prefer it with the lettering. Now if only it came out with dedicated arrow keys and bluetooth...that would be heaven! ;D
-
Poker II because of size/layout.
-
Leopold F660C: The perfect hybrid between 60% and TKL, due to arrow keys. I don't ever use Home, Page End, etc. so its nice to just have what I need. I should remap Insert to something more useful. Right now its just a Grizzly Bear :D
-
QFR: because I love to tinker with it without worrying about being out too much $$.
-
Qfr because best value
-
Given that two of my favourite boards are HHKB and Model M, I'm not sure I could contribute anything meaningful in this thread.
-
Ducky 9008g2 pro.
The cherry mx green feeling. The thick PBT caps are enough to depress the keys a bit, and the final result is that pressing these keys feels just like popping bubble wrap. It's so fun to type on
-
CM Quick Fire Rapid. Because has a nice quality for its price.
-
Model M - because your co-workers can hear it down the hall.
-
Leopold FC700R (graphite) -- I just love its colour and shape.
-
can't believe no one else beat me to it, but:
good feeling of oneness with cup rubber
-
Favorite board: Phantom
Favorite thing: WinKeyLess layout
Why?: it makes it easier to play starcraft2, considering the key-binds i use. (I use TheCore, for any sc2 fans out there that were curious.)
-
i don't understand why winkeyless helps...
isn't winkeyless just missing the two windows keys and with 1.5x mods?
-
Filco M2 TKL with thick PBT keycaps...
I love the typing feel of Browns with thick PBT keycaps. Its so smooth with just enough feedback...

You can't accidentally hit the Windows key which interrupts the game?
Lots of keyboards include a dip switch of Fn key to disable the Win key functionality for just this reason.

it kinda hard to explain, but i use my thumb to hit alt, ctrl, and shift on the right side of the keyboard. winkeyless makes the alt button closer to ctrl but also still has a gap so its easy to feel witch button im hitting with out looking down.
but here is a video about the keybinds i use, and maybe you will understand better.
this is NOT my video btw

TK- lots of nice things, but I love how they had the innovation to combine numpad/directional keys. Plus, colored backplate+lighting = great.

Topre 55g. It feels better and sounds better than any mechanical switch I've used. I would have saved a lot of time and money if I just bought a RF to begin with.
Thock.

+1 but I don't think you would appreciate as much if you did start out with a RF

Solid as a rock: steel plate + thick aluminum casing

Can't wait for distro to be in stock.

You're right. I wouldn't know that I like it better than over 20+ variations of switches/springs. Also, I love the CTRL swapped with the CAPS LOCK. This is how all default keyboard layout should be. No more awkward hand placement to do CTRL-based shortcuts!

Press Ctrl with your palm, problem solved.

Not comfortable at all and it increases chance of hitting nearby keys like Shift and Windows. Ctrl and Caps Lock switch is the most comfortable/ergonomic and efficient setup I've experienced.

That's what I thought at first too, but not anymore.

I love the general feel of both my FC660c and FC660m - they both feel much more solid than the Filco I own.
-
I should add my LZ-GH now. Didn't think it would feel better than my Filco, and in some ways I still like the Filco more (the lower profile), but the sheer SOLIDNESS of the keyboard (~6 lbs) makes any resonance from typing on it so dampened, that it's quite a different experience from a non-metal frame keyboard.
