UPDATE2: Nov 23 @ Massdrop HQ San Francisco, 1 PM address below
UPDATE: Nov 23 @ San Jose TechShop, 1 PM Conference Room
Another month, another Kiibohd Meetup :D
My schedule is wide open in November (unlike October...).
Unless someone steps up for booking another location, the meetup will be at the San Jose TechShop again (Conference Room @ 1PM).
If people need rides, let me know, Acantha doesn't mind picking people up at Millbrae BART station.
I can't book the room until a week before, so there is still time to pick your ideal dates!
Sat, Nov 2nd
Sat, Nov 9th
Sat, Nov 16th
Sat, Nov 23rd
Saturdays seem easier for people, so I've removed the Sundays from the list.
Please let me know what dates work for you.
And if there are any keyboards you want me/someone else to bring. Or if there are any topics people want me to talk about or even present.
-
my vote would be the 23rd, as the early part of the month is going to be hectic verging on ridiculous.
-
23rd sounds good to me. Any votes against?
-
I'm in the Bay Area, what is Kiibohd?
-
It's just a name for the meetup :D and sounds like "keyboard".
I'll be bringing some rare and unusual keyboards, dismantling and talking about them. Discuss various keyboard projects.
I like to have some informational talks about some keyboard topic as well.
-
where the hell is sth?
-
sth msg'd me recently saying he was going to Europe soon or something along those lines.
Friendly reminder, current date is 23rd of Nov.
-
I should be able to make it.
-
I should be able to make it too! Though I may have to leave a little early.
-
Will try and make it.
Jwaz let me know if you're coming and I'll bring the Speccy.
Also going to bring along the fabled Memotech MTX-512 this time.

I was chatting with Will (BaudlyDamage) from Massdrop today. He's offered to let us use the new Massdrop office in SF for the meetup on the 23rd.
Any thoughts? Good? Bad?
I don't mind really, though I could use a ride :P.
-
If it is in SF I can probably stay a little longer for that day!

any particular agenda for this event?
-
Hmm, agenda...
Well, as usual, I'll bring 5 "interesting" keyboards dismantle them. As well as bring any requests (currently a Matias Quiet Pro and a Topre HiPro).
First bit is usually just talk and look at the keyboards everyone has brought.
I'll give an update on The Alps Kiibohd, and other misc projects. May talk a bunch about the Model F cap sense controller since there is a lot of interest in it right now due to the influx of kishsavers. I *might* have a working prototype ready by then.
If Acantha can show up, he'll likely do a solenoid demo.
Massdrop doesn't have a projector...but I may make some slides anyways.

Reminder, meetup on Saturday :D

Running fashionably late...

Dang... I thought I would go, but looks like I missed...
Sigh... Well. There is always a next time.
Photos and more photos please...
-
It was great seeing you all you guys again today and hearing about the F updates and fun MD stuff. The HiPro and Burroughs optical parabolic switch were amazing!
Sad I had to leave a little early.. but looking forward to the next!
-
Good to see everyone in person again, and play with some sweet boards. And big props again to Massdrop for hosting and providing delicious food!
-
For the next meetup, we'll probably skip December (since I'm away for almost half the month) and then have one early'ish January (4th or the 11th), probably at Tech Shop SJ (as it's easy for me).
Massdrop doesn't mind hosting (and providing food), perhaps some sort of alternation between San Jose and San Francisco. Myself and DamienG live in San Jose so it's a bit of a commute (I need to rent a car to get my stuff to SF).
It ended up being more informal than the previous meetups (no projector), so no slides this time. I've been super busy anyways with work and kishsaver controller.
-
The kishsaver was my favorite part. Great feel and an awesomely hacktastic project to build a new controller for it.

Running fashionably late...
i didn't realize that being painfully hungover and getting your phone stolen was fashionable :))
not to sound like a parrot but it was great to see everybody even though we probably missed a few by the time we showed up. hopefully we can get together again before i defect for deskthority meetups.
