So I'm watching "Red 2" the Bruce Willis movie..

And this scene has me puzzled..

This mystery thing is totally weird-ing me out.. I can't even watch the rest of this movie now..

Maybe he was fat but they didn't want kids to see the movie and want to be fat to so they digitally removed some flub and missed a bit.

that's why I don't think they're hip bones..

My hip bones do not protrude like that.. "just checked"

I would probably guess this is some kind of "movie magic" flesh-painted equipment he is wearing. It almost look like some kind of belt that connects in the back.

I haven't seen the movie, so I wouldn't really be able to make educated guesses, but here are some stabs in the dark:

-Fake abs
-Vest to withstand punches [complete with fake abs]
-Vest to attach to a crane for "flying" via hooked wire
-Vest for blood packets to remotely explode to simulate gunshots

im going to repeat exactly what lastpilot said. im pretty sure that is a harness of some type, doesn't necessarily mean type that makes you fly, lots of things they could use it for including gore, they do cover things like that sometimes with fake skin and it looks like it wraps around the dude
