Title: anyone have high-res images of corsair k95 internals?
Post by: kolonelkadat on Sun, 03 November 2013, 00:49:55
Basically, I want to do a couple of mods to my k95.

Primarily Im interested in what chips power the board.
Another thing i want to see is if the LEDs for the media keys and such are surface mount or through hole.

But Im like _super_ lazy and I dont want to have to pull off all the key caps just to look and see. So can anyone facilitate my laziness and hook me up with some high res pictures? especially ones that get real clear shots of labels on the chips.

Why would you need to take off the keycaps?  Can't you open up the bottom of the keyboard without that for some of this information?

If your going to do some serious modding and need that sort of info you need to look for yourself :P

If you can't be bothered to do a little leg work how will you do any modding?

the screw heads are located on the top underneath the keys.

lol i dont mind doing leg work. But if a 5 minute check for prior work can save me 2 hours of tedious work, it seems silly not to do the research.

Nope. You need to remove around 25 screws (including destroying the name badge to get at a screw) to separate the plate from the case bottom.

MCU=mc9s08jm32 (Freescale)
LED driver=HT1632C
Media LEDs, 1 tombstone throughhole LED with acrylic light pipe and membrane diffuser.
Lighting mode LED + Winkey lock = SMD, but not top shining. They shine through the PCB (there is a cut out).
