I'm assuming that aluminum is just the top plate as per a recent MD GB? As in, it's not aluminum all the way through?

No, this was from the first GB, all 5 layers are aluminum

that's a terrific deal on the ergodox.

original massdrop price for the full alu case was 280, and the dsa caps at 37. add in the fact that it's been assembled, sanded, and actually available right now.

no brainer for those wanting an ergodox atm. Just saying.
