Which one is more comfortable to type on without a wrist rest?

I have neither, but if the Unicomp is the same height as a Model M then I would hazard a guess that the RealForce would have a lower profile at the front.

However you should not be resting your wrists on a wrist rest while actually typing - that is only meant for resting your wrists between typing.  And also you should not be resting your wrists, rather the heels of your palms.

I don't have a Unicomp to compare but my Realforce 87UB is the lowest profile keyboard I have. Compared to my other keyboards QFR, Ducky TKL's and HHKB Pro2 the Realforce has the lowest profile.

I can comment directly on this issue as I've had both boards. The RF if the lowest profile mech kb I've ever used bar none.
