I predict this goes for lots of money now that you've posted it here.
-
If used ones have been selling in the $350-450 range, a new one should command at least a $50 premium.

My B.
But to be honest it was going to be posted any way.
Heck, the busted one missing keys went for 230 or something...
-
It has a strange lexmark label put over the original ibm label
-
Imma throw a $800 snipe* at the last second. Come at me bro.
*sarcasm
-
Mhm, there it goes. Already over $150.
-
Someone's going to throw down half a grand

After but 2 bids.

Lexmark refurb perhaps? I also notice there's no date or serial number.
-
Price is gonna go up anyway (already gone up to $182.50).
I'd buy it myself if I could afford it!
-
Those "chop job" ghetto SSKs are looking better all the time.

Is that what this is?
-
Is that what this is?
I doubt it. I just meant that when the price goes over about 4X the price of a standard M, a few hours at the work bench is not so bad.
-
MOTHER OF GOD...
-
Okay, I think I need to sell one of mine now. It's up to $430 now. How much does Ebay charge, 10%?
-
Ok. People have forgotten how to Ebay...
-
Holy....
If this goes for more than the M15 I bought like 4 weeks ago a then people have gone completely crazy.
This is a fun one to watch.

Damnnnnn.
-
Someone out there really wants one.
I'd really like one, but there's a difference.
-
It looks like it could possibly be a refurb like Dork mentioned. It's missing a rubber "foot" on the top right and there is a small ding in the case just above the retractable "foot" on the right. Plus, that is weird that it has a label on top of the original.
Blue IBM = it's from the 90's?
-
Someone is gonna get screwed here...
-
Sheesh, $500 with 4 days left.
-
I'm awaiting the eventual market crash.
-
You can only hope...the prices have steadily gone up for the last year on all of the Ms. I don't know if it will crash, but it should at least plateau.
-
Holy ****, over 500 $.....that's ****ing crazy
-
meanwhile at Unicomp ...

I know, right...................

They have a sliding scale with a lot of variables, but that is not too far off. Auction is cheaper than fixed price, shorter time is cheaper than longer time. Reserve is stupid and costs extra.
I recommend a "reverse auction" where you start at a very high fixed price and drop it by 10% every so often until you sell.
-

I'm waiting for the eventual $800.00USD bid to come forth soon, whether here or another SSK auction ;D .
-
200 to 386.
yup, geekhackers are bidding.

You think?
I was assuming that it was ignorant outsiders.
-
not sure if sarcastic but, have you seen these CC auctions? 7 day auction, within the first 24 hrs somebody has bid 100 already.
-
What's the deal with the Lexmark label? I'm surprised it's going so high considering it has a label stuck over the original.

Lexmark-made IBM's look that way, typically. At least the ones I have had.

Lexmark label on the back + blue label means newer than about 1993 or so.
-
I think I should use my monopoly power now.

Do it tin! List 20 ssk's all at the same time.
-
flood the market!
-
And I'll post some too! :D
-
Sooo, what happened? Did the seller decide to end the auction without selling? Can you do that?
-
He relisted it: http://www.ebay.com/itm/131049138663
Listing text is the same with the added comment:
"Item had to be relisted due to High Bidder NOT planning on paying for item. Serious Bidders only Please."
-
"Item had to be relisted due to High Bidder NOT planning on paying for item. Serious Bidders only Please."
How did he know that the buyer was not planning on paying for the item? Is he a mind-reader?
-
I wondered when that was going to happen. It was very suspicious that it shot up so high and so fast. It's all a little fishy isn't it FH? (rhetorical)
-

He could have contacted the high bidder while the auction was still going.
However, if the auction wasn't over he could have just cancelled the high bidder's bid. The story as is does not make a lot of sense, especially when he had two bids over $500.
-
It's possible he had a friend bidding it up.
-

Shill bidding only works if you back off before the closing bell.
-
Jesus these get expensive fast.
-
Why would you shill bid something that's worth a lot anyways?
-
I guess I was lucky to get my NIB SSK for only $400.

Low supply = High Demand

High bidder contacted seller and asked to be removed from bid. As he was not going to have funds available for the sale. Item will be sold this week to high bidder. Sheel bidding is against ebay policy and seller would not do that and jeopardize his livelihood. Was not fair to high bidder to keep item running exposing his max bid and making it a easy snipe. contacted high bidder and asked him if he alright with that and he stated it was in his best interest to do exactly that. Hoping that I have serious bidders this week. I wish all bidders good luck.

Are you the person who is selling the ssk?
-
Yes..I was told it was up on this forum and I read the comments and I felt I needed to comment before more speculations arose and set record straight. I am just a average ebay seller and had no idea these items were so sought after, until the last auction when crazy. Just thought I would set the record straight. I started it at same price and will let it fall where it may to the highest bidder. Have a great day guys.
-
Someone just running the price up to be an a-hole.
-
No, I do believe he was genuine but he stated he had a unexpected expense come up and was not able to pay for it if he had won it. No biggy things happen and life goes on. Just unfortunate that I had to wait another week for it sell.
-
Good luck in the sale jimmerjimmer2, SSk's are already pretty rare and sweet, but a NIB one is even better :thumb:
-
That's TOTALLY NOT POSSIBLE
Only Geekhackers are enthusiastic enough about keyboards to put in such high bids.
Ignorant outsiders would be picking up keyboards from Church sales and thrift shops for $1. :))
yup, geekhackers are bidding.
You think?

$536. not bad
-
...for the seller...
-
I just listed another one guys this one is open to International bidders as well. This one is new as well. ;D
