wut?  I'm leaving for Nepal tomorrow.  Should I rethink going?

FYI:  I'm 91 years young, and I have asthma, flat feet and bad breath.  Oh, and I lost a leg in WWII.  But I believe in the power of positive thinking.

NEVER GIVE UP, unless you want to live then just stay on the couch, eat your chips and watch more tv.

If those dumb goats can climb Mt. Everest, so can I!  [Also, I'm an old, rich Republican, so I'm going to have some poor people carry me up the mountain.  But don't worry, I'm not using any of those filthy foreign sherpas.  I'm bringing my own 'Murican poor people.]

Why ban something like this?
People love what they are doing, or else they wouldn't try to climb the largest mountain in the world. Sure there are risks involved, but there is a risk in every day life. We have the same chance of dying in front of our computers as they have climbing. Smokers, bad drivers, drunk drivers, stupid kids running across the street when there is a lot of traffic. I'm pretty sure that not a lot of people die from mountain climbing, well not as many as car drivers.

I caught it lol. I just sorta got carried away.... I had to think of something in school today that should be banned. That was pretty much my argument. I was still in the english class mode. :)

In most cases it's exposure that kills climbers. Instead we need to BAN cold weather to keep Everest climbers safe.

MOAR GLOBAL WARMING!!!!1!11

On another note, why can't they retrieve the bodies?  It seems overly morbid to just leave them there for anyone following to find.

And on the subject of mountain goats, I still loathe chickens after being pushed off numerous precipices by them in earlier versions of Minecraft.  KILL THE MOUNTAIN CHICKENS!!1!

They can't/won't retrieve them because it's a place in the middle of nowhere, and massively expensive and dangerous to climb, let alone carrying a frozen corpse down with you. That said, I believe Sherpas do retrieve bodies/litter to some extent towards the end of the climbing season, but presumably there's only so much they're able to do with limited resources, and being mostly occupied with escorting groups to the summit.

But for something like a body of your loved one - you'd think there would be some sort of arrangement.

Well you could fund a recovery expedition privately, but it would cost a fortune. Not only that, but even once you got the body off the mountain, trying to get it out of a country like Nepal, back the next of kin, and in half-decent condition would be a logistical nightmare in itself and cost another fortune.

We really need to start work on the Everest escalator so we can then begin work on the space lift (that ofc starts at the summit of Everest).

Escalator? Rubbish who wants to stand up for that long? Surely a cable car or something similar which you can sit inside and be heated would be the way to go.

Physically, because the effort required to retrieve the body would probably kill the person trying to retrieve it. Spiritually, Isnt the side of a mountain a much better final resting place for a mountain climbing enthusiast than an urn or a hole out in a field somewhere?

I am not one for extreme sports either....  maybe if I was 50-60 and thus would only be risking the crummy years left of my life.
