People don't seem to be getting any better at constructing stories for their CC sales.
As if this sale will even pay for 1/10th of the ticket..

Are you saying a 'cool story, bro' is in order here?

I thought one must have a story in order to justify auctions here.
Mine isn't that impressive I agree.

Yeah I honestly think we should just instate a 90 day rule before new users can see the classifieds. The Overclockers Australia forums do the same thing and it keeps nonsense to a bare minimum.

Not at all. Although normally that only happens in the last few days
-
I have 0 posts and albeit it does look sketchy throwing bids in, however the classifieds are what made me make an account in the first place. You guys have some awesome caps that aren't even for sale "or For that matter have ever seen before" I have 0 posts because I just bought my first keyboard and barely know anything about mech keyboards. It would be pointless for me to post anything because of my lack of knowledge on the subject therefore just creating spam.
-
They say its sketchy because it looks like shill bidding. Not because you are new. But it looks like you are shill bidding because you are new?
Welcome to the forum, chill, have fun, meet awesome people.
-
well am for real, I promise.
yes am new here but still real :)
See you all soon :thumb:
edit: Hipsters post took the words from my mouth/fingers. I am a total noob here but look forward to collecting some nice keycaps.
Not here to 'shill' any auctions so I hope my bids are taken for real

I used to like the 60 post thing...but then there would be people racing to get there with annoying spam
the 90 day thing sounds good...but maybe that reduced, like 60 days or so

nah. How about 48 hours. The delay is only there to stop spam bots from doing the posting, or hacking the system, or some nonsense excuse. So if the delay is only there to stop bots, then we only need 48 hours. Or 56. Or 72. w/e. It shouldn't have to take two months or 60 posts to be a "real" member. Post count is meaningless. Please note that tp4 has over 8,000 posts, and he's just a self-propelled turd, he's not even human.

*looks at tp4 post count at around 5k*
*looks at my post count at more than 8k*

tp4 has around 7600 posts -> http://geekhack.org/index.php?action=profile;u=17009;area=showposts;start=7620
you have over 9300 (which is still greater than 8000) -> http://geekhack.org/index.php?action=profile;u=9142;area=showposts;start=9300
The moar you know!

I see your point ... but I think people would still rush after about two, three, four days and make a post that's against the rules or poor format.
People need some time to observe how the classifieds work. You need to get a sense of how things actually function before just posting about how you want to buy a clickclack for $200.
So I still think that 60 days or so would be a better idea, because that would still keep out rushers. if it was really all about bots, then 2 days would make sense..but I don't think it's just about that
he's not even human.
:)) :))

To give some insight as a newer member who has yet to hit 60 posts... I don't want to get to 60 by spam so I try to contribute, but it sucks not being able to really use classifieds. I think a time based approach is probably best because it prevents people signing up, spamming 60 posts and then using classifieds. To me there is no difference between someone who has been a member for 30 days or 7 days or whatever, and someone who is a member and spams 60 posts immediately.

There has to be something that could be done. It is really obvious when someone posts 60 posts in two days and then immediately puts up a thread then leaves as soon as they sell/buy or whatever.
I say make the entire classifieds a hidden forum that only members who have reached whatever milestones that are set can see.

Perhaps this discussion should be taken into the feedback/suggestions area.

That's probably a good idea, that way at least these posts will count, not that they will get any more attention that way but still a good idea.
Sorry OP, GLWA!
