Hi all,
This is my first attempt spray painting pretty much anything but I gained enough knowledge from around the site that I wanted to try my hand.
I bought 2 replacement cases knowing that I might totally mess the first case up, but I didn't, YAY!
So glad I got to participate in the build log so I will give some tips:
1. Use 400-grit sandpaper or close to that to prep the silver case surface.
2. Let your case dry in a safe place like a garage.
3. Allow plenty of dry time before flipping the case over.
4. Don't worry too much about imperfections as they can be buffed out.

After I ordered these key caps I knew my case had to be white. Ended up using Rustoleum Pearl Mist as the final paint color. It does bring attention to the couple flaws that I have (dust), but still looks amazing!
You can read about the keycaps here (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=51084.0)

I cannot wait to paint my next case to match my next set of keycaps, huehue.
This looks really good! A lot of painters on here suggest to sand multiple times while increasing the grit, but it looks like you had a great outcome only using 400 grit. :thumb:
How smooth is the surface?
Looks amazing! Congrats on your first paint job. Very impressive, living the rainbow keycaps too ^^ curious: what would you do to correct the dust problem? Also, is the dust going on in between layers or as you were drying it?
I think it was happening when drying because I left it outside to dry. It's easy to correct just take the 600 grit sandpaper and sand it off. Then it looked kinda weird because it wasn't as glossy in that spot so I painted another coat. Hope that helps!
