I want to change the LEDs for my Pure but it's impossible to find purple LEDs.
Where should I be looking?
-
Actual purple or the common magenta?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/10pcs-2x3x4mm-Purple-400-405nm-Water-Clear-LED-Lamp-With-Free-Resistor-234PL-amy-/321089669408?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ac26f8920
This same seller also sells magenta.

get them from a supplier like mouser, farnell/element14, or digikey. Mouser is my personal choice 99% of the time. Sometimes its worth the hassle of ordering from digikey because sometimes they have better prices on certain items. farnell is always too expensive.
you might also go with white LEDs and get some of the purple color changing shades from the groupbuy.
-
Mouser is not really good for keyboard LEDs unfortunately. Especially in less common colors.

Obviously he has something to sell, so he needs 60 posts.

I have something to sell too, that doesn't mean I have the right to spam random ****

Welp... didn't felt like I spam just to get to the classifieds. Even if that is the case at least it wasn't random words in random threads though.

Purchase them through ebay like Photoelectric said and linked. A lot of people on here have had success with the 2x3x4 LEDs.

Oh ok, thanks. I saw these earlier but was unsure of the color due to the blurry photo.
Does anybody have another picture of purple LEDs? I'm still trying to decide on purple or magenta.

Purple LED (actual purple)
(http://i.ebayimg.com/t/10pcs-3mm-5mm-Round-Water-Clear-LED-Red-Green-Blue-White-Yellow-Orange-Pink-UV-/00/s/NjAwWDY2MA==/z/tVEAAOxy5QtR-2NP/$(KGrHqUOKpwFHdm(DtpzBR-2NPLbKw~~60_3.JPG)
Magenta / "Pink" LED (not actually pink, but asian sellers call it pink)

Those are more or less accurate. Purple has a lot more blue ultraviolet tone to it.

Arent some LED's too big for the switches

Wow that actual purple looks amazing I'm definitely getting that. Thanks.

You can use T-1 (3mm diameter) LEDs: rounded or flat-top (would not recommend the flat top ones from experience if you use Cherry profile keycaps), as well as 2x3x4mm LEDs. They are all fine. Those round ones that have flanges at the bottom may need to be filed to fit under low Cherry-profile keycaps without hitting them. 2x3x4mm LEDs don't require any modifications.

I particularly like the 2x3x4mm LEDs. That said, the purple 2x3x4mm LEDs are more magenta. If you want purple, you'll have to go for the rounded top ones that are usually sold as UV LEDs.
-
Those particular ones are purple uv-like I believe. I have 'pink' ones from the same seller, and those are already purplish magenta.
-
I bought some of the "purple" 2x3x4mm LEDs off of eBay from a seller in Hong Kong and they're definitely more magenta in color. It's fine with me, but I haven't seen any truly purple/UV 2x3x4mm LEDs yet. When I asked if they had any true purple, they said there weren't any, at least not in 2x3x4mm. I could be wrong though since I bought them some time ago.

I noticed this as well when looking for purple LEDs and I just went with the more magenta-ish colour.

From that same seller? I'm just saying that this guy sells both pink/magenta and purple in 2x3x4 size. I have his 2x3x4 in pink (magenta), and they are magenta, close to the photograph. According to his photograph, the purple ones are more UV purple, so I'm inclined to believe it, unless someone's tested them otherwise.
-
When I bought it they only had the pink/magenta color. It appears they have purple/UV now, so I'm probably wrong.
-
Yeah, I linked specifically the purple ones, because they are the only ones I've found in that size.

Those are the ones I bought for the GHPad GB.
