Black friday is coming up and I've been needing to get a new keyboard, been using the microsoft wireless 6000 2.0 for almost 7 years xD . Anyway the thing's old. After pulling an all nighter i've been scouring videos , forums, stores and found myself here after watching WhiteFireDragons' videos. It's come to me there's literally no stores in my state that harbor MX switches on physical display or even in box. I'm down to just taking everyones word for it and winging it. I'm mainly an rts (dota) player and so i've scratched reds off my list as I dont want to avoid double clicking. Am currently looking at blues, greens, clears. How did you guys first get in touch with a physical MX switch?
Also the gifs on mechanicalkeyboards.com is very helpful. My step brother owns an IBM M model so it's the only thing I've experienced.

First time touching MX was from a switch sampler. Go get one, and welcome to geekhack!

I bought a CM storm trigger from Amazon, it had issues and they took it back, but in the process I tried my first mx switch!!
Where are you located?

The first thing I tried was a Razer BlackWidow because that was available in a local store. Their feeling convinced me and I got myself a switch testing kit which I would recommend you too.
And welcome to Geekhack! ;)
