Title: How do I fix my Ducky's mushy spacebar and LEDs?
Post by: openminded on Wed, 20 November 2013, 17:37:09
So I just got my new Ducky (Non-Shine) keyboard with Red switches and I love it.

Unforunately, the spacebar is way too mushy and the Caps Lock and Num Lock LEDs are far too bright.

How would I fix the mushy spacebar to make it feel more tactile and disable the LEDS on those keys?

Thank you for reading.

You can try using a black permanent marker over the LEDs to dim them.  Mushy spacebar... not sure you can solve that easily.  Some people consider Cherry stabilizers mushy--is that what yours uses?  If so, you'd have to do some desoldering to swtich to Costar stabilizers.

If the stabilizers underneath the spacebar are the Cherry ones, that's probably why you think it's mushy as Photoelectric pointed out. I am aware of a mod to the stabilizers which makes them less "mushy" though, but I can't remember the thread/post.

Oh, that could be clipping the Cherry stabilizers.  Could search for that.

Clipping? As in slicing open the actual wire?

I mean search the forum for clipping Cherry stabilizers.  There are threads for it--I'm not sure as I've never done it before.

lube + clip stabilizer nub..   I think it's probably also possible to just Sand the sides of the nub down a bit..
