Title: Does this type of layout exist in mechanical form? (Compact keyboard content)
Post by: simon_C on Wed, 20 November 2013, 17:51:08: I'm looking for a keyboard for a friend of mine. He uses a logitech wireless k360 and LOVES the layout and flat profile chiclet keys.
Now I know the chiclet keys arent going to come on a keyboard by default, I'm no stranger to swapping out keycaps.
But is there a keyboard out there with the same type of layout, but with mechanical switches?

Post by: simon_C on Wed, 20 November 2013, 18:10:34: Well It needs to have dedicated arrow keys, I think there were a few cherry POS keyboards that had a very similar layout, but I'm not too sure. I know the halfsize keys arent really going to be viable.

EDIT: Something like this maybe? but with no card reader?

Post by: Daniel Beardsmore on Wed, 20 November 2013, 19:10:17: Depending on your view of Cherry ML switches (lovely tactile action, but hella scratchy and some people have problems with off-angle binding (mine doesn't)), you could consider a Cherry G84-5200 — compact, flat profile, with a numeric keypad, dedicated arrow keys, better navigation key arrangement, but no multimedia functionality, and needs lube.

As for the non-card-reader version of that keyboard above, there are some quite fetching versions of the G80-1800:

Bingo, now we're talkin. Not a fan of the ML board you said, but those g80-18xx ones are great. Just need to find one with an ANSI enter key.

The TK is the closest thing I can think of, which I have, but it doesn't have dedicated arrow keys; it and the navigation cluster are integrated into the numpad.. If he doesn't care about the numpad, it looks very similar to the rubber-dome HHKB Lite and the mechanical Keycool 84.

Eh i've definitely used worse. its not bad for a wireless mini keyboard. I think i found what i'm gonna do though. its either one of those cherry compacts up above, or a keycool 84 and a separate numpad.

Post by: PortablePlatypus on Fri, 05 September 2014, 03:38:56: I know I'm necro-posting here, but I've also been looking for a compact keyboard with a numpad for my measly 3-foot desk and came across the Adesso MKB-125b with cherry MX blues. It's a no-frills budget board for sure but it's one of the only others I've seen with anything close to that layout. http://www.adesso.com/UploadFiles/20140605010808.jpg
