Hello,
I'm a programmer and spend every day in front of a keyboard. Up until recently that meant a MBP chiclet, but as of a week ago it's been a QF Stealth with browns. I'm really enjoying it so far and I can see how this becomes addicting.
Unrelated, I love programming and am happy to talk to anyone about it.
Cheers.

Welcome to geekhack!! I'm pretty new here as well. Its nice to know that there are other programmers out there. What language is your favorite?

It's gotta be Clojure. I've not seen another language or community that I'm so consistently impressed with.
However, I've been very impressed recently with Julia (http://julialang.org/). It's a great language and does some really neat things, like using expressive run-time types and simple inference for performance instead of correctness.
I'd love to hear what other people pick. =)

That's really cool. I've never used either. I mostly program in java, python, and occasionally javascript. I just started my Computer Engineering major though, so I'll probably learn some new things over the next couple of years.

I unfortunately doubt you'll get any exposure to Clojure or Julia, but you should definitely explore outside the bounds of your degree!
