Im thinking about modding my next keyboard (cherry G80) . Im wanting to add a removable cord but I have a pet peeve against mini USB so i figured Id install a regular USB female socket in the back of the case and have a USB to USB cord to my pc. So my only question is; do USB to USB curly telephone type cords exist? if so do any of you know a good place to grab one or have one youd like to sell yourself?
Any help is appreciated, thanks yall =]

I agree that mini-USB sucks, but I can't understand the other part.
Why do you want a coiled cable? As much of an old fogey as I am, I still don't like them.
If you have a soldering iron it may not be hard to manufacture one yourself, especially if beige is your color of choice.
And micro-USB might be a better option, too.

Well Ive always liked the look of coiled cables, and they tend to not get as tangled as ordinairy cables imo. I also dislike braided cables. I purchased a few from different makers and non impressed me with their quality. My main grip with mini USB is it always seems to fall out or get jerked out at the worst possible times with little to no disturbance. I cant see micro being any better? I wanted to opt for normal USB as I already have a female connector laying around from crafting arcade sticks so I thought itd be a good off the shelfer. I could go to a thrift shop and source an old phone if I need to, but I was unsure if phone cables had the 4 or 5 internal wires for USB? Also, I was gonna go for an all black theme, which should be close to beige in sourceability =P

Micro seems to be sturdier than mini.
I like the big old ones, too, and have a dozen of them laying around in all lengths.
I have never seen a coiled USB cable, but it would be easy to make one if looking at the splice did not offend your sensibilities.

Naw I would just use a nice black heat shrink =] I love making/crafting/creating things.

MicroUSB has little built in springs to help hold it in, plus is designed so that wear and tear will more likely happen on the cable and not the socket (unlike MiniUSB).
And are you talking about using a female USB A socket on the keyboard? That'd severely limit your cable options.
Personally, I'd either go with a USB standard B (older, original, big socket still used on printers), or a Micro B. MicroB is kinda hard to solder though if you don't do a lot of soldering with small stuff.

However, one drawback with Micro-B USB for modding is that there does not seem to exist any micro jacks for panel-mounting.
I have had to cut open an extension cord to expose a plastic housing which I intend to glue on with superglue.

I've seen panel mount before (search USB micro B with Panel mount on mouser), but they're all SMT, so may not be the best option for you.

I've got a curled cable if you want it. I've even got usb ends, if you're missing the male connectors.
